Job Context:
∎ The Manager, Market Systems Development leads the application of the market systems approach to improvements in the aquaculture sector in Feed the Future`s zone of influence. The manager will actively work with the Senior Market Systems Specialists to identify and engage regional private sector partners who can support the aims of the activity and are willing to invest in providing high quality aquaculture goods and services to value chain actors.
∎ The manager is the supervisor of the Market Systems Development team and will be responsible for staff development, all administrative issues relating to the team, and leadership. The post holder will be supervising nine staff reporting to him/her on four offices and will travel to field offices regularly to engage staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
∎ The post holder will be a member of Bangladesh Aquaculture & Nutrition Activity (BANA) senior management team and contributes to activity-wide leadership at a high level by contributing to annual plans, addressing operational issues, and modelling productive & professional behavior.
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Country Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in December 2019 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial three (3) years fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provides expert guidance and direction to the Senior Market Systems Specialists as they work with private sector partners to design and implement activities to test market-based solutions to systemic problems and obstacles to growth.
∎ Provides expert assessment of partner activities to determine the replicable and scalable solutions to market systems problems and obstacles.
∎ Provides expert guidance and direction for crowding-in methods and activities.
∎ Facilitates, monitors, and intervenes as needed to ensure successful implementation of program activities.
∎ Improves and adapts program design through internal and external collaboration and learning.
∎ Actively applies data from BANA's MEL/CLA team to activities in process and being planned.
∎ Provides consistent leadership to all market systems activities from design and solicitation through implementation, learning, and scaling.
∎ Regularly interacts with stakeholders and partners.
∎ Writes high quality reports and presentations about BANA activities.
Additional Requirements:
∎ This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:
∎ At least five years experience in managing staff.
∎ Five years experience in private sector.
∎ Five years experience in an internationally funded economic development program, preferably USAID.
∎ Strong knowledge of English both in written and oral.
∎ Proven financial analysis skills with a thorough understanding of pro forma income statements and financial projections.
