Job Context

Medical technologists will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease. These tests have a wide range of areas; Histopathology, Immunology, biochemistry, hematology and microbiology.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute and analysis biochemical, hormonal, immunological, hematological and serological assay with interpretation.

• Investigating coagulation factors and disorders.

• Ensure quality of tests by maintaining the quality of instruments such as micropipette, test kits, calibrators and controls.

• Culturing and identifying micro-organisms and determining antibiotic sensitivities.

• Examine body fluids and slides for abnormal chemical levels, cells or bacteria.

• Prepare slides for microscopic examination.

• Operates and maintains sophisticated instruments and equipment used in the division and able to properly set up, calibrate, maintain, operate and shut down such instruments.

• Maintains competence in Laboratory Information System that is crucial to the quality operations of the laboratory and patient care.

• Actively participates in Quality Improvement Programs essential to ensure that laboratory testing is accurate, timely and meets customer needs.

• Actively ensure quality Control.

• Trains and orientates new Medical Laboratory Technologists in the performance and interpretation of tests.

• Maintain personal hygiene in the laboratory.

• Microscopically examining prepared cellular slides for evidence of abnormality or disease.

• Maintain proper storage of sample and test kits and monitor freeze temperature.

• Proper disposal of pathological specimen waste material and chemicals.

• Inventory control and work order proceeding.

• Any other tasks are assigned by the management.
