Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
2–4 years of experience in IT support, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory environment.
Knowledge of LIS, HIS, EMR/EHR systems, and laboratory analyzer interfaces.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with database management, networking, and cybersecurity.
Good communication and training skills to support non-technical staff.
Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to system issues.
The IT Executive will be responsible for managing and supporting all IT systems within the hospital laboratory, including the Laboratory Information System (LIS), integration with analyzers, Hospital Information System (HIS), and other related applications. The role ensures smooth operations of laboratory IT infrastructure, data security, compliance with healthcare regulations, and technical support to laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and maintain LIS and its integration with HIS, EMR, and billing systems.
Troubleshoot LIS/HIS-related issues and liaise with vendors for resolutions and upgrades.
Manage user roles, access rights, and system workflows.
Ensure seamless connectivity between laboratory analyzers and LIS through middleware/interfaces.
Monitor automated data transfer of test results and resolve interface errors.
Support installation and calibration of software for new instruments.
Maintain laboratory IT hardware (computers, servers, printers, barcode scanners, etc.).
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues promptly.
Coordinate with central IT for broader hospital IT infrastructure support.
Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of patient test data.
Implement and monitor data backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Enforce cybersecurity policies to prevent unauthorized access.
Provide technical support to lab technicians, pathologists, and staff.
Train end-users on LIS/HIS usage, best practices, and troubleshooting.
Prepare and update SOPs, manuals, and user guides.
Ensure compliance with hospital, accreditation, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP, NABL).
Maintain IT-related documentation for audits and inspections.
Generate system usage, downtime, and error reports.
Coordinate with LIS/HIS vendors, analyzer interface providers, and IT service companies.
Manage software licenses, warranties, and service agreements.
Recommend and implement IT solutions to enhance laboratory efficiency.
Support digital transformation projects such as online reporting and patient portals.
