ABOUT JENNYS GROUP
Jennys Group is one of Bangladesh's established business groups with a strong foundation in footwear manufacturing, export, and industrial development. The Group operates across four entities: Jennys Shoes Ltd. and Five-R Footwear Ltd., both engaged in the manufacturing and export of footwear to international markets; Jennys International Ltd., which handles the Group's international trade and export operations; and Bangladesh Shoe City (BSCL) Ltd., a privately developed industrial manufacturing zone in Konabari, Gazipur built to attract global footwear brands seeking compliant, infrastructure-ready production facilities in Bangladesh.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Group manages an active portfolio of legal matters across its four entities — including land and property disputes, labour cases, commercial contracts, corporate filings, and regulatory compliance. The Chief Legal Counsel leads the legal function, supported by an internal and external panel of legal advisors. The Legal Affairs Officer works directly alongside the Chief Legal Counsel and the broader legal team to ensure every case, deadline, and obligation is tracked without exception, all documentation is organized and accessible, and counsel has the operational support needed to function effectively. This is a high-trust role with access to sensitive legal information and confidential case records across all four group entities — absolute discretion and integrity are non-negotiable. This person reports to the Managing Director, Director, and Chief Legal Counsel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Litigation & Legal Representation
• Institute and manage legal proceedings on behalf of the organization as required
• Act as the official company representative in court and before government authorities when required, including deposing as a witness in legal proceedings
• Maintain a comprehensive register of all active legal cases across all four group entities
• Track all hearing dates, filing deadlines, and court orders; prepare case status summaries and briefing notes for counsel and senior management
• Follow up regularly with external counsel to obtain case updates and ensure timely submissions
2. Documentation & Compliance
• Draft routine legal correspondence, internal notices, and case summaries under the direction of counsel
• Organize and maintain all physical and digital legal files — contracts, court documents, judgements, trade licences, and correspondence — with clear version control and retrieval protocols
• Track contractual obligations, renewal dates, and compliance deadlines across all group agreements
• Submit documents to government offices, collect certified records, and monitor RJSC, BIDA, and other statutory filing requirements
• Monitor legal and regulatory updates — including labour law, land regulations, and corporate compliance — and flag changes to counsel and management
3. Industrial & Internal Coordination
• Coordinate with HR and Finance on labour disputes and employment matters, ensuring adherence to the Bangladesh Labour Act
• Provide legal support during organizational transitions such as production relocations or personnel transfers
• Gather internal records and supporting documents required by counsel for ongoing legal matters
• Review contracts and vendor agreements to identify key dates, obligations, and clauses requiring counsel attention
• Assist in maintaining records for company registrations and trade licenses across all group entities
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• LLB degree from a recognized university; Bar Council enrollment is preferred
• 3–5 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm support role
• Solid understanding of Bangladeshi court procedures, case filing processes, and corporate legal documentation
• Experience with land and property matters, labour cases, or industrial and footwear sector regulations is highly preferred
• Prior experience appearing as a company representative in court or before regulatory authorities is a strong advantage
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Proficient in written and spoken Bengali — essential for court appearances, government liaison, and legal correspondence
• Strong written and verbal communication in English
• Highly organized with a systematic approach to managing multiple concurrent matters and deadlines
• Able to interact professionally with lawyers, judges, government officials, and senior management
• Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and follow-through
• Proactive and self-driven — able to manage workload and deadlines independently without prompting
• Discreet and reliable in handling confidential and sensitive legal information
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with document management tools is a plus
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• BDT 35,000 per month
• Two festival bonuses per year (Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha)
• Lunch provided at the office
• Performance incentives and additional benefits as per Group policy
