Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Assist the Chief News Editor in managing the news desk and coordinating editorial operations.
∎ Plan and coordinate daily news coverage in collaboration with reporters, correspondents, producers, and other editorial staff.
∎ Supervise news desk operations, including assigning stories, monitoring developing events, and ensuring timely delivery.
∎ Edit and finalize news scripts, reports, and video packages for accuracy, grammar, and editorial consistency.
∎ Liaise with field reporters, camera crews, and news producers to ensure efficient communication and support.
∎ Coordinate with other departments (graphics, video editing, digital, etc.) to enhance the quality of news output.
∎ Mentor and train junior journalists and desk staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing newsroom environment.
∎ Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational editorial standards.
∎ Stay updated on national and international current affairs, and ensure relevant and engaging content for target audiences.
