Educational Requirements:
∎ Diploma in Nursing
∎ 3 years work experience as an IYCF counsellor and/or CMAMI nurse with a Nutrition Sector NGO in the Rohingya response.
∎ Written and spoken Bangla
∎ Ability to communicate in Rohingya language (spoken Chittagong dialect)
∎ Basic written and spoken English
∎ Nurse registration (Desirable)
∎ Training in CMAM and IYCF (Desirable)
∎ Fluent in written and spoken English (Desirable)

∎ At least 3 year(s)

Job Context:
∎ To improve the nutritional status of the Rohingya communities who have arrived from Myanmar through the provision of nutrition services.
∎ World Concern, with technical support from Medair, implements nutrition services for children under 5 years and pregnant and lactating women in the Kutupalong camps in Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Uphold Medair values and contribute to the wellbeing of the team as an active member.
∎ Follow World Concern and Medair policies, including child protection, PSEA, Gender based and disability awareness.

∎ Technical:
∎ Assess the IYCF needs of infants, young children under the age of 2 years, and lactating women/ caregivers
∎ Provide appropriate IYCF counselling to caregivers with infants and young children under the age of 2 years. This includes being able to give one-on-one counselling on the following topics:
∎ Breastfeeding: exclusive <6 months age and continued breastfeeding until the at least the age of 2
∎ Complementary feeding: timely, adequate, safe and properly fed
∎ Appropriate action on the non-breastfed infant
∎ Hygiene
∎ Recognize the general danger signs for children under 5 years and pregnant women, and refer to a nurse at the site for further assessment or to the nearest health facility in the absence of a nurse.
∎ Conduct basic danger sign assessments in infants under 6 months, including respiratory rate and axillary temperature
∎ Screen infants under 6 months and lactating women dyads to assess if they are at risk (nutritionally) according to C-MAMI (Community Management of At Risk Mothers and Infants) admission criteria, this includes being able to:
∎ Take anthropometric measurements, including MUAC, weight, length and age (WLZ, WAZ)
∎ Conduct breastfeeding assessments
∎ Conduct maternal mental health status assessments
∎ Follow-up enrolled infants and lactating women in the IYCF and/or C-MAMI program to follow their progress in the program, especially related to breastfeeding issues (conducted at both the home and/or at the nutrition site).
∎ Assess enrolled lactating women for maternal mental health issues and refer to the appropriate mental health service if needed
∎ Update patient ration cards and C-MAMI monitoring cards accurately
∎ Liaise with the Nutrition Outreach Supervisor/ Nutrition Promotor to ensure that C-MAMI defaulters and non-responders are followed up with home visits
∎ Liaise with the appropriate community volunteers to ensure that the volunteers are able to do appropriate active case finding for both the C-MAMI program and any other young children under the age of 2 where the caregiver needs IYCF counselling
∎ Discharge infants and the lactating woman dyad according to IYCF/C-MAMI discharge criteria
∎ Provide supportive supervision and capacity building to the IYCF and education volunteers at the nutrition site on technical IYCF matters
∎ Quality Management:
∎ Ensure good hygiene standards are kept within nutrition facilities, including personal hand-hygiene
∎ Ensure accurate record keeping for reporting
∎ Compile timely, accurate IYCF specific and other C-MAMI reports as required
∎ Coordination and External Representation:
∎ Ensure good coordination between the nutrition team and other health and nutrition staff and also community and site volunteers in the same catchment area
