CAT II (Category 2 Diploma degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics)
0-1 year experience in a similar role, preferably in development and humanitarian contexts
Registered with a local association
Previous NGO experience
Ability to work in harsh conditions
Strong multidisciplinary teamwork approach
Communication skills in verbal and written Bangla
Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh
Sensitivity to issues related to child protection and gender-based violence
Experience in a multidisciplinary context
Knowledge of Chittagonian/Rohingya language is a strong asset
Knowledge of English and/or Burmese language

Job Responsibilities:
Service Delivery:
• Provide high-quality prosthetic and orthotic services to clients within the Physical Rehabilitation Center (PRC) as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Directly manage beneficiary care and P&O workshop operations.
• Adhere to ISPO/WHO standards for providing prosthetic and orthotic devices to individuals with orthopedic and neurological conditions.
• Submit monthly beneficiary reports to the Project Manager.
• Develop and maintain a positive working atmosphere with colleagues and MDT members.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols at all times.
Operational Implementation:
• Fabricate and assemble prosthetic and orthotic devices.
• Maintain records of material consumption.
• Perform tasks such as draping, cutting, finishing, riveting, making soft inserts (liners), and welding.
• Bench align devices and modify them during the fitting/gait training process.
• Execute final operations on all devices using alignment transfer tools and equipment, ensuring biomechanical correctness and safety.
• Stay updated with advances in prosthetic manufacturing technology and techniques.
• Collaborate with the Rehabilitation Officer and Physiotherapist to identify and assess individuals needing P&O services.
• Provide training, assessment, and follow-up for individuals with devices, involving caregivers and beneficiaries` families.
• Ensure all individuals receive quality prosthetics and orthotics, both in workshops and in the field.
• Consider contraindications and precautions to ensure beneficiary safety.
• Fabricate various orthotic and prosthetic devices using low-temperature thermoplastic materials.
• Perform basic repairs on prosthetic and orthotic devices.
• Create low-cost, custom-made orthotic devices using materials such as steel strips, cotton, cloth, and Velcro.
• Adjust and fit ready-to-use orthotic devices and repair assistive devices such as wheelchairs and crutches.
• Create low-cost positioning devices and maintain compliance with project management policies and procedures.
• Maintain individual files for each beneficiary and conduct regular follow-ups.
• Periodically visit the field to follow up with users and enhance device functionality.
Procurement and Workshop Management:
• Plan and advise on equipment installation in the workshop.
• Assist in procuring equipment and materials for workshop production.
• Prepare proposals for prosthetic materials and perform quality checks.
• Set up and maintain the P&O workshop, ensuring barrier-free access and adherence to safety measures.
• Advise on costs related to P&O materials, equipment, maintenance, training, and service delivery.
Coordination and Reporting:
• Coordinate with Rehabilitation Therapists and Physiotherapists.
• Ensure clients receive gait training and necessary rehabilitation therapy.
• Collaborate with the Rehabilitation team for patient treatment, follow-up, and evaluation.
• Produce regular reports and case stories.
• Participate in technical, case management, and PRC team meetings.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of actions defined under the RMS framework.
• Share knowledge from internal and external trainings.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
• Contribute to emergency preparedness initiatives.
• Adapt working arrangements in emergency situations to support SARPV’s humanitarian response.
