Young, Energetic Hotel & Hostel Manager Wanted – Old Dhaka Revival with Growth Potential!

Location: Thatari Bazaar, Old Dhaka (with future expansion opportunities)

Position: Hotel/Hostel Manager (Full-Time)

Salary: 16,000 – 25,000 BDT/month (negotiable) + strong performance incentives + possible accommodation

We are reopening a historic 45-room building (successful hotel 1998–2019) in Old Dhaka. The 1st to 3rd floors will operate as boutique hotel rooms, with potential to convert 4th and 5th floors back to daily rentals if they prove regularly profitable (as they were previously).

Currently the building is running as a mess, so the manager will handle transitional tasks like rent collection, electric meter readings, room billing calculations, maintenance organisation, tenant coordination etc whilst reverting the property back into a hotel.

We would like the top two floors + roof to be transformed into a vibrant social backpacker hostel/lodge with the community atmosphere felt in hostels across the world. Target a great mix of international backpackers, locals, students, and longer-stay guests.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role with real creative freedom to refresh the property within a budget, manage the transition from mess to hotel/hostel, build community vibe, and drive growth.

We have another similar 48-room property in Mohakhali Junction. A high-performing manager can help build a unified brand across both locations and in time, take on General Manager responsibility for the group — with significantly higher salary and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Lead licensing & permits (DSCC, DC/MoCAT, Fire Safety, etc.).

Manage daily operations, bookings, front office, housekeeping, and guest services.

Handle current mess operations: rent collection, electric meter readings, room billing calculations, and tenant coordination.

Hire, train, and manage staff (start small, scale to more managers + support team).

Oversee utilities, bills, basic accounts, and cash flow (with dedicated helper support).

Coordinate tradesmen and phased upgrades to hotel/hostel standards.

Build strong online presence (Airbnb, Booking.com, Hostelworld, Instagram) and promote hostel offerings.

Create engaging community activities: family dinners, rooftop hangouts, city tours, cultural exchanges etc

Support owner with hotel-related admin and coordination tasks as needed.

Drive revenue growth through proactive operations, marketing, and guest experience.

Who We’re Looking For

Young (ideally under 30) with a Hotel Management diploma/degree (NHTTI/BITHM preferred).

2/3+ years experience in small hotels, hostels, or guesthouses (experience managing mess-to-hotel transitions is a plus).

Proactive, positive, enthusiastic and revenue-focused with strong skills in operations, licensing, basic finance, digital marketing, and community building.

Energetic leader passionate about Old Dhaka heritage and creating memorable traveler experiences.
