Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT) / Bachelor of Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.

• Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a diploma course of 3 years in Physiotherapy.

• Professional registration with the relevant authority, where applicable. Preferably 3-5 years of professional experience in physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Required Experience:

• Experience working in a therapy/rehabilitation Centre will be highly preferred.

• Experience working with children with disabilities and their caregivers will be an advantage.

Computer Literacy

• Must have good working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Email, Internet and basic data entry/documentation.

• Gender: Female candidates only. This position is specifically designated for a female candidate to facilitate gender-responsive and culturally appropriate delivery of health and WASH services, particularly for women and girls with disabilities and other vulnerable community members.

About the Project:

Improving the Lives of Persons with Disabilities and Vulnerable Non-Disabled (ILPWDVD) is a community-focused project implemented by Protibondhi Community Centre (PCC) with the aim to contribute to achieving optimal social protection and wellbeing for targeted persons with disabilities by 2030. The project promotes a rights-based, inclusive, participatory, and community-centered approach, with particular attention to health and rehabilitation, WASH, inclusive education, disability inclusion, disaster risk reduction, and climate change resilience.

Position Summary:

The Health and WASH Officer will be primarily responsible for providing quality physiotherapy and rehabilitation services through the PCC Therapy Centre, while also supporting broader project interventions related to health, WASH, disability inclusion, inclusive education, rights-based programming, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation.

The position requires regular therapy-centre-based service delivery as well as field, household, school, Self-Help Group, and Child Club visits. The Officer will work closely with children with disabilities, persons with disabilities, caregivers, teachers, community members, local government representatives, health and education service providers, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders.

The Officer will also facilitate trainings, meetings, workshops, awareness sessions, referrals, networking, and coordination with relevant Government Organizations (GO) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

  • Provide regular and quality physiotherapy services at the PCC Therapy Centre.

  • Conduct physiotherapy assessments and develop appropriate individual physiotherapy and rehabilitation plans.

  • Monitor beneficiaries' progress and adjust treatment plans according to their needs.

  • Maintain individual therapy records, assessment reports, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up records.

  • Provide counseling and practical guidance to parents, caregivers, and family members on home-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation exercises.

  • Conduct home-based physiotherapy/rehabilitation visits for beneficiaries who have difficulty accessing the Therapy Centre.

  • Identify beneficiaries requiring specialized medical, orthopedic, rehabilitation, assistive-device, or other services and facilitate appropriate referrals.

  • Coordinate with relevant hospitals, rehabilitation professionals, health facilities, and service providers.

  • Promote early identification, intervention, rehabilitation, and referral.

  • Support appropriate use and follow-up of assistive devices where relevant.

  • Ensure therapy services are child-friendly, disability-inclusive, safe, respectful, and rights-based.

• Community Health & WASH

  • Conduct awareness sessions on health, hygiene, disability prevention, rehabilitation, nutrition, personal care, and healthy lifestyles.

  • Provide basic health-related information and facilitate linkages with appropriate health services.

  • Support families of persons with disabilities and vulnerable children to access available government and non-government health services.

  • Support implementation of WASH activities at household, community, school, and institutional levels.

  • Promote accessible and disability-inclusive WASH facilities.

  • Raise awareness among children, persons with disabilities, caregivers, teachers, Self-Help Groups, Child Clubs, and community members on hygiene and sanitation.

  • Support WASH-related campaigns, awareness events, meetings, and community activities.

• Rights-Based Approach and Disability Inclusion

  • Promote awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities and vulnerable children.

  • Encourage active participation of persons with disabilities, children, caregivers, and community groups in project planning and implementation.

  • Identify social, physical, institutional, and attitudinal barriers to inclusion and support appropriate solutions.

  • Support linkage of eligible persons with disabilities and vulnerable families to available government services and social protection mechanisms.

• Other Responsibilities

  • Support inclusive education activities and promote the enrollment, attendance, participation, and learning of children with disabilities and vulnerable children.

  • Conduct regular school, household, Child Club, and Self-Help Group visits to identify needs, barriers, and community issues.

  • Identify children requiring rehabilitation, assistive devices, or specialized services and facilitate referrals.

  • Conduct awareness and community sessions on disability inclusion, education, health, WASH, child rights, protection, disaster preparedness, and climate resilience.

  • Coordinate with government departments, NGOs, CSOs, schools, health facilities, rehabilitation providers, and other service providers to ensure access to relevant services.

  • Participate in relevant coordination meetings, workshops, seminars, and networking activities and represent PCC/ILPWDVD when assigned.

• Monthly salary: BDT 45000.00 during the probation period.

• Upon successful completion of the probation period, the employee will be entitled to:

  • Provident fund (PF), Festival Bonus, Risk allowances as per PCC Policy
