Experience:
Technical / Vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology or a related field.
Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical plant maintenance.
Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of mechanical equipment and hotel engineering systems.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, diagrams, and technical manuals.
Practical knowledge of generators, electrical appliances and engineering equipment.
Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
Ability to identify equipment abnormalities and take timely corrective action.
Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Fair to excellent proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Well-groomed, organized, focused and professional personality.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to urgent maintenance requirements.
Willingness to work on a shift basis, on-call, weekends and public holidays according to business requirements.
The General Technician – Mechanical will be responsible for the inspection, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and servicing of mechanical equipment and systems throughout the hotel.
The position will ensure that all mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, while minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining guest comfort. The incumbent will work closely with the Engineering team and other departments to respond promptly to maintenance requirements and support uninterrupted hotel operations.
Responsibilities
Inspect, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and service mechanical equipment and systems throughout the hotel.
Carry out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Monitor the operational condition and performance of HVAC and other mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical faults and take appropriate corrective action to minimize equipment downtime.
Assist in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, pumps, compressors, generators and other engineering equipment.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, equipment manuals and technical documentation.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and identify potential faults before breakdown occurs.
Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, equipment conditions, breakdowns and repair work.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hotel departments and ensure timely resolution.
Follow all engineering, occupational health & safety and hotel operational procedures.
Coordinate with other Engineering team members and relevant departments during maintenance and repair activities.
Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained and organized.
Support the Engineering team during hotel pre-opening activities, testing, commissioning and operational readiness.
Perform other mechanical maintenance duties as assigned by the management.
