Job Context:
∎ Project: Protibesh
∎ Expected Joining Date: 01 October 2021
∎ The Protibesh project is funded by USAID which focuses on three result areas including i) Strengthening environmental governance and management; ii) Mitigating biodiversity threats and iii) Advancement of market-based incentives that promote sustainable natural resources management under the Development Objective "Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards." The goal of Protibesh is to improve ecosystem conservation in and around targeted key biodiversity areas of Bangladesh such as northeast haor areas and southwest Sundarbans. CNRS will be engaged in implementing project activities at the ground level with the technical support of Chemonics International.
∎ Job Location: CNRS Head Office in Dhaka.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Lead and support activities that improve the management and co-management of forests at the national, regional, and local levels
∎ Provide technical support on forest habitat and biodiversity conservation and management
∎ Support reviews of management plans
∎ Support RIMS, FRSS, and SMART
∎ Liaise with government counterparts including the Forest Department and Department of Environment.
∎ Illustrative activities:
∎ Conduct analysis with the BFD to prioritize the needs of sites, then provide technical guidance to field team to assist CMCs to prepare business and financial plans;
∎ Assist the development and implementation process of national recovery plans for threatened species;
∎ Identify barriers and solutions to implementation with BFD and other stakeholders;
∎ Provide technical inputs in designing and delivering customized skill trainings with CMO members on forest resources management, leadership development, negotiation, conflict resolution and visibility;
∎ Development of modules and facilitate particular training sessions of GoB stakeholders to assess the overall effectiveness of forest PA management;
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum seven years' experience in forest management and conservation. Existing rapport with BFD will be an added advantage. Strong knowledge of English is required.
∎ Having excellent understanding of existing country policies, rules and acts related to forest.
∎ Strong ability in working with GoB systems.
∎ Good communication, facilitation and motivational skills.
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages.
∎ Skill in training module development, documentation, reporting in English.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to region/site level.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.
∎ Ability to work under multi-sect oral / multi-disciplined team approach
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender sensitive perception
∎ To protect children in connection
∎ Willingness and ability to drive motorcycle in the field as and when required and should have valid driving license
∎ Efficient computer literacy (especially in MS Office applications)
