  • Proficient user of finance software – ERP Financial Systems: excel, tally, Microsoft Office.

  • Budget planning, maintaining, control.

  • Procurement .

  • A solid understanding of financial statistics, accounting principles, financial policy, procurement policy and other relevant policies.

  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.

  • In dept knowledge on taxation systems and policies in country.

  • Report writing experience.

  • Experience in working in projects and project management.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bangla .

  • Two years’ experience .



Responsibilities & Context:

Days: Fulltime (Sun-Thursday) and if required other times as necessary.

Start date: 01 June, 2024.

Contract period: 01 June – 31 December, 2024 (contract may extend as per budget availability).


Bangladesh Midwives Society (BMS) was established in 2010 and has one National/Executive Board and 6,049 members. It is the representative body for midwives in Bangladesh, and operates to ensure quality of midwifery services to women, newborns and families.

The Finance Manager/assistant will assist the society in the smooth running of its financial operations. He is responsible to implement the finance policy of BMS as well as pay tax and VAT to bank. All sorts of documentation and banking is his work.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure fund disbursement/payment according to the annual work plan. This includes follow-up and updates.
  • Take signatures on cheques of executives.
  • Report to the Finance manager, treasurer and project manager
  • Maintain cash, ledger book, cash book, a register of cancellation of cheque, journal voucher, bank book, balance sheet, statement of income and expenditure, statement of receipts, payments, budget variance report, donor reports, overhead statement
  • Attend meetings of the BMS executive committee and other relevant meetings
  • Documentation: Bank reconciliation statement, bank statement, bank certificates collection and
  • Fix asset management: Make and update the list of fix asset, do regular inventory, calculate depreciation, sell and disposal of fixed asset, set asset number, maintain asset card, maintain asset register, and asset return register,
  • Tax payment: Organization, staff, deduct tax and vat from payment when necessary
  • ICM membership payment
  • Membership payment: Make a statement of membership fund, donation,
  • Any other relevant responsibilities given by the supervisor
  • Maintain confidentiality of the organization

Administrative Tasks:

  • Write English and Bangla letters and submit to the relevant authority .
  • Purchase equipment/furniture/asset when required.

Reporting to: Finance manager, Copy: Treasurer, Project Manager
