Job Context:
∎ The Support to the Management of Sundarbans Mangrove Forest Project (SMP II) is a follow-on project of the Management of the Sundarbans Mangrove Forest for Biodiversity Conservation and Increased Adaptation to Climate Change Project (SMP). SMP II strongly builds on and further develops the approaches and best practices of SMP. The objective of the project is "the BFD as well as those communities and local administration, that are part of the co-management structures, implement co-management, SMART and ecological monitoring as instruments of the sustainable management of the Sundarbans Mangrove Forest".
∎ The project is supported by GIZ and being implemented by CNRS in Mongla and Sarankhola Upazila under Bagerhat District.
∎ Project: Support to the Management of the Sundarbans Mangrove Forests (SMP II)
∎ Expected Joining Date: 01 March 2020.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Closely work with VCF, PF Members and the concerned resource user community;
∎ Facilitate to organize RUG, WG, VCF, PF and community strengthening events as planned and targeted;
∎ Closely involved to organize and form Resource User Groups (RUG) and women groups within VCFs;
∎ Work under the Supervision and guidance of Project Officer (PO)
∎ Report to Project Officer (PO) in each week through Assistant Project Officer (APO)
∎ Expect to stay at cluster level and establish strong linkage with VCF/community
∎ Familiarize him /herself with SMP's Co-Management Concept and implement all activities accordingly
∎ Organize and facilitate formation of RUGs & WGs under each VCF and within each RUG further re-formation of two categories of RUGs fishermen groups and groups of users of other resource within each VCF;
∎ Collect data on profiling factsheets, member listing of CMOs, RUGs, WGs and any others from field and report in appropriate template/database;
∎ Facilitate RUG, WG & VCF bimonthly meetings
∎ Facilitate resource user women to avail their spaces in Co-Management processes
∎ Organize/attend facilitate formal or informal meetings or sharing events with different tiers of CMO (RUG, WG, VCF & PF) at community level
∎ Work closely with community members, women groups, RUGs, VCFs, PF and other tiers of CMCs and facilitate them for further strengthening of Co-management
∎ Identify potential future leaders within RUGs/women groups/VCF and support/encourage them to develop themselves as future leader
∎ Organize capacity development events like trainings, cross visit, workshop, awareness raising street drama etc.
∎ Attend training measures provided by relevant stakeholders after approval by CNRS Project Coordinator
∎ Develop and submit activity and progress reports as designed
∎ Provide need based supports to the survey team members
∎ Any other activities as assigned.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2-3 years of experience in community-based development activities, notably in environment and natural resource management areas. Expertise in participatory process, community mobilization, training facilitation skills etc. is highly desired.
∎ Good communication, facilitation and motivational skills.
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages is preferable.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to village/community level.
∎ Having problem solving and prompt decision making capacity.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.
∎ Efficient computer literacy (especially MS Office applications).
