Responsibilities & Context:
Advancing Youth Employability through One-Month Apprenticeship-Based Retail Training is a 12-month BRAC SDP pilot designed to train 2,000 disadvantaged urban youth aged 18–30 for employment in Bangladesh's growing retail sector. The initiative replaces lengthy classroom-based training with a one-month workplace-intensive model comprising a two-day boot camp followed by one month of supervised apprenticeship in partner retail outlets. The project will prioritize women and PWDs, target at least 30% female participation, establish 30+ employer partnerships, and aim to place at least 75% of graduates within three months. The pilot will also develop a standardized apprenticeship toolkit and employer cost-sharing mechanism to enable replication and scale across Bangladesh.
