Job Context:
∎ British Council Bangladesh is a vibrant operation delivering a high impact portfolio of projects across Education and Society, Exams and English and the Arts.
∎ The Bangladesh Exams business delivers a mixed portfolio of Schools Exams, IELTS, Professional exams, and some Aptis to a wide range of individuals and clients across the country, through the teams in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram. The team delivers around 180,000 exams to around 90,000 candidates generating income of £20m. The market is very competitive but British Council has implemented an effective strategy through 2021-23, taking it beyond pre-pandemic volumes and market split for IELTS. The team delivers several significant award ceremonies and thought leadership events in collaboration with key partners.

∎ Contract type: Indefinite Contract-Local
∎ Requirements - Candidates must have the pre-existing right to work and live in location.
∎ Mobility / relocation support will not be provided.

∎ Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to set the three-year Exams strategy and deliver income and surplus for Bangladesh aligning with Global and Regional Exams strategy. The lead is ultimately responsible for overall performance, customer experience and reputation with a primary focus on leading business development to maximise market opportunities and create value, working collaboratively with other British Council colleagues on shared interests/ mutual opportunities, ensure compliance with British Council and awarding body standards, and add value to customer and partner relationships.
