Clinical Care & Diagnosis
Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient interviews and physical examinations to evaluate musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, arthritis, sports injuries, congenital deformities, and degenerative diseases .
Diagnostic Interpretation: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic imaging studies (X-ray, MRI, CT scans) and laboratory tests to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans .
Non-Surgical Management: Provide conservative treatment options including medication prescription, injections, physical therapy referrals, bracing, and lifestyle modifications when surgery is not immediately indicated .
Surgical Procedures
Elective Surgery: Perform a broad range of elective orthopaedic procedures, which may include joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder), arthroscopic surgeries, ligament reconstructions, and fracture fixations .
Emergency/Trauma Surgery: Respond to orthopaedic emergencies, perform emergency procedures when on call, and manage acute trauma cases including open fractures, dislocations, and polytrauma patients .
Perioperative Management: Provide comprehensive pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, intraoperative decision-making, and post-operative surgical care to ensure optimal patient outcomes .
Administrative & Documentation
Medical Records: Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all patient encounters, surgical procedures, and follow-up care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in compliance with regulatory standards .
On-Call & Emergency Coverage
Call Rotation: Participate in the orthopaedic call rotation as scheduled, providing coverage for emergency consultations, trauma room procedures, and inpatient management during assigned shifts .
Inpatient Rounds: Conduct daily rounds on hospitalized orthopaedic patients, coordinate care with nursing and therapy staff, and manage post-operative recovery .
Collaboration and Patient Education
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with anaesthesiologists, radiologists, physiatrists, physical therapists, and primary care physicians to coordinate comprehensive patient care .
Patient Education: Counsel patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical risks, rehabilitation protocols, and preventive musculoskeletal health .
