Responsibilities & Context:
Serve as the primary contact between the laboratory and clinicians, providing advice on test selection and interpreting complex metabolic, endocrine, and toxicology results.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the clinical biochemistry department, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards such as CAP or CLIA.
Develop and manage internal and external quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical data.
Authorize and interpret complex, non-automated, or flagged biochemical investigations to guide clinical diagnosis and treatment pathways.
Lead audits, evaluate new diagnostic techniques, and implement innovative tests to improve patient care and lab efficiency.
Train and supervise junior laboratory scientists and technicians
