Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ Duration of the contract: December 2022 (next extension depend on Funding availability).
∎ Reporting to: Program Coordinator, American Red Cross.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The principal aim is to ensure that Disaster Risk Management (DRM) interventions in camps and host areas under the Population Movement Operation (PMO) in Cox's Bazar is professionally communicated, understood, and supported by internal and external stakeholders.
∎ The following are the key responsibilities of the Senior Communications and Reporting Officer:
∎ Enhancing effective public communications and international media relations efforts of BDRCS and American RC/IFRC through producing quality visibility and documents.
∎ Effectively engage with BDRCS and IFRC communication team at PMO and support in image building and managing the reputational risk for organization.
∎ Main Responsibilities:
∎ The role of the Communications and Reporting Officer is to position and profile the DRM activities in Cox's Bazar. Duties and responsibilities include:
∎ Develop and implement a year-round communication and reporting plan involving BDRCS and IFRC communication colleagues demonstrating the need related to organizational representation, media coverage, capacity enhancement and reporting aligning National and Global communications priorities.
∎ Lead the editorial team for English and Bangla document/reports to be prepared for sharing with external stakeholders for wider representation and resource mobilization.
∎ With professional attachment with the filed operation, develop stories, field reflection, success/lesson learnt and other communication materials to demonstrate impactful DRM interventions of BDRCS and American RC/IFRC in camps and host areas of Cox's Bazar.
∎ Develop audio-visual materials and documentary based on the DRM activities, internal and external visit for social and electronic media.
∎ Support the program team and develop Information, Communication and Education (IEC) materials related to DRM for better programme implementation in consultation with BDRCS/IFRC CEA team.
∎ Together with the BDRCS, monitor and analyse trends, perception, and acceptance of the BDRCS' work to identify and manage communications risks.
∎ Lead program communications, sharing timely, relevant, and accurate information and communication materials with the partners, ensure coherence, quality and consistency in design and production.
∎ Liaise, share information with and collaborate with external organisations including donor agencies, UN agencies, international government, and non-government agencies.
∎ Maintain a close coordination with the BDRCS/IFRC Sector, Communication, CEA and PGI team of Population Movement Operation (PMO) in order to extend collective actions.
∎ Media scanning, monitoring, and gathering and regular sharing of the information with relevant stakeholders.
∎ Perform other relevant communications duties as required.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Experience:
∎ 3 years of experience of working in communications, and public relations in development sector.
∎ Excellent written communications skills, with ability to adapt style to suit different communications media and audiences.
∎ Experience in managing organization's social media account and producing hi-quality social media posts through Facebook and/or twitter and/or Instagram in English and local language.
∎ Independent and creative thinker with strong relationship management experience.
∎ Experience in coaching and transferring skills and knowledge to counterparts.
∎ Red Cross Red Crescent experience.
∎ Knowledge:
∎ Good computer skills (Windows, spread sheets, word processing, designing software).
∎ Good photography and videography skills.
∎ Self-supporting in IT.
∎ Comfortable working and communicating with different nationalities.
∎ Detail-oriented, able to multi-task, a team worker.
∎ Languages:
∎ Advanced knowledge of written and spoken English.
∎ Fluent in speaking and writing Bangla.
