Educational Requirements:
∎ Master of Arts (MA) in Economics, Master of Arts (MA) in Development Studies, Master of Arts (MA) in Anthropology, Master of Arts (MA) in Disaster Management, Master of Arts (MA) in Environmental Science
∎ At least a Master's degree majoring in Economics, Development Studies, Anthropology, Disaster Management, Environmental Sciences, or any other relevant discipline from any reputed national or international institution(s);
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 7 year(s)
Job Context:
∎ SDS-Shariatpur Development Society, a national level progressive development organization, has been working with the disadvantaged communities living the downward confluences of Ganges- Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) River Basin System. Started with responding to the humanitarian crises followed by a massive flood in 1991, SDS has been consistent in addressing the root causes of socio-economic marginalization, and thus progressively scaled-up its program interventions while integrating service delivery to the rights-based program approach.
∎ In relation to facilitating people`s socio-economic empowerment, SDS supports peoples` endeavour of micro entrepreneurship development so that the initiatives of social empowerment are sustained by the economic empowerment. Such initiatives range from off farm skill development to promoting highvalue crop farming, from farm-based product diversification to promoting cooperative marketing system etc. In all aspects of development activities, SDS takes into account the localized vulnerability to the impacts of climate change so that the community initiatives and technological solutions could be upscaled for resilience building.
∎ The Communications and Fundraising Officer will play a pivotal role in maintaining an optimum portfolio and pipeline of projects by communicating with and exploring potential donors and accessing funds for project implementation, in coordination with other senior officials with his/her reporting relationship to the Executive Director.
∎ Job nature: Contractual (01 year with possibility of enhancement based on the availability of fund and the performance)
∎ Job location: Dhaka, with frequent visits to the project areas
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The responsibilities of the incumbent include (but are not limited to):
∎ Researching and exploring potential donors and funds and harnessing and enhancing the network for enhancing the project portfolio;
∎ Maintaining active communication with the donors, project partners, and other stakeholders instrumental to project implementation;
∎ Producing comparative analysis of the projects in the pipeline and prioritizing them in accordance with the vision and principles of the organization;
∎ Writing funding proposals and sending them to potential sponsors;
∎ Writing concept notes, narrative reports and periodic reports;
∎ Developing communication materials for stakeholder management and organizing events;
∎ Leading the budget preparation in cooperation and coordination with the finance department;
∎ Creating marketing and promotional activities;
∎ Participating in the events having potentials for exploring fund opportunities;
∎ Maintaining records of donors and funds.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 07 years of core experience in the similar position at any reputed national or international development organization(s);
∎ Clear theorical understanding on SDGs, climate change, DRR, resilience building etc. and respective national as well as global plans, documents and frameworks, and an updated knowledge of the climate change discourse;
∎ Strong knowledge of relevant GoB system and functions and previous experience of maintaining liaison with relevant government departments and agencies.
∎ Hands on experience of project planning and designing, writing concept notes, project proposals, narrative reports, periodic reports, and the like;
∎ Excellent proven verbal communication and presentation skill, especially in English;
∎ Apt in using basic computer programs like MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Access, Office Suite, etc.;
∎ Strong leadership qualities;
∎ Creativity and persuasion skills;
∎ Proven organizational skills.
Salary:
∎ Monthly gross salary: BDT 50,000 (Higher salary could be offered to the exceptionally candidates meeting the qualifications and skills required for this position)
