Job Context:
∎ Under the guidance of the ECOFISH-Bangladesh Team Leader, and in close collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department, WorldFish headquarters, the Communication Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the ECOFISH-Bangladesh communication strategy and the communications and documentation plan of the project. S/he will maintain strong relations with print and electronic media, publication agencies, and work closely with the Communications and Marketing Department, WorldFish headquarters and all other projects of Bangladesh office for smooth implementation of the project. S/he will manage the project branding and marking policy in accordance with WorldFish and donor communication guidelines and policies. S/he will coordinate with Department of Fisheries (DoF) and other organizations` staffs to support/organize communication events as required and ensure that all products placed in the public domain meet the guidelines set by WorldFish and donor.
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Country Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in February 2020 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence on February for an initial eleven (11) months fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the guidance of the ECOFISH Team Leader, and in close collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department, WorldFish headquarters, support the development and implementation of the ECOFISH-Bangladesh communication strategy based on the project as well as WorldFish research and communications priorities.
∎ Support effective communication of project research outputs by assisting the Team Leader and project team in the preparation of project work plans that include specific communications deliverables and budget in accordance with the WorldFish Standard Minimum Research Communications Package and/or specific project donor requirements.
∎ In close collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department at headquarters, provide communications guidance and support to project staff on the successful implementation of key WorldFish and donor communications guidelines, including but not limited to: WorldFish Branding Toolkit, Open Access Policy, Publications Tracking, Promotion and Dissemination, Media Engagement, Social Media, etc.
∎ Ensure quality control over project publications (including both science articles and grey literature) by supporting project team with their publications planning, budgeting, science and editorial review, branding review, reporting and M&E activities through the MEL platform.
∎ Responsible to communicate with Government of Bangladesh (GoB) officials, project team and partner staffs on the basic framework and objectives of the communication strategy.
∎ Support for project event management such as organizing workshops, seminars and disseminate knowledge obtained from project activities.
∎ Responsible to develop project communication materials such as publications, training materials, conference/workshop contributions, promotional materials, digital storytelling products, success stories, TV commercials, documentaries, etc and in close collaboration with the Communications and Marketing Department at headquarter to ensure proper branding and acknowledgement for all project communication materials in line with branding guidelines and style guide.
∎ Manage the gathering of project communication assets including photography, videography and first-person interviews for storytelling across multiple platforms.
∎ Responsible for media coverage of the project research results and achievements; establish strong relationship with national, regional and international media outlets; develop media briefs and maintain the program media/journalist database.
∎ Assist and guide project team on media messaging, media handling, support with media briefings and on timely responses to reputational management inquiries raised by media and donors, in close consultation with the Communications and Marketing Department at headquarters.
∎ Maintain productive relations with all other projects in Bangladesh office for sharing of knowledge and findings.
∎ Regularly attend the monthly meetings of the WorldFish Communications Network to ensure coordination with HQ and other country offices on global communication campaigns, strategic events and new communication policies.
∎ Any other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and/or Director of Communications and Marketing.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 year working experience in a reputed organization on communications, documentation & communication products marketing.
∎ Excellent communication skills and an ability to make presentations and represent WorldFish center with a variety of audiences
∎ Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills in English in a variety of formats (i.e. web, print publications, briefing papers, press releases, etc.).
∎ Experience developing and using a variety of communication strategies and tools to advance program objectives, including media relations, web/mobile/social media, print and events, branding and marketing issues, etc.
∎ A good understanding of branding and marketing strategies, and application of branding toolkits and templates at regional/country/project level.
∎ Sound working knowledge of digital communications, including: web content management, social media, video, animations, photostories, etc.
∎ Good understanding of regional landscape and news agenda, including issues and sensitivities that affect the work of WorldFish in Bangladesh.
∎ Strong skills in event planning and management.
∎ Must be a self-starter with the confident ability to work with minimum supervision and within tight deadlines.
∎ Ability to work and communicate with a range of stakeholders including policymakers and government officials, NGOs, the media, community representatives.
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
∎ Trustworthy, high level of integrity and ability to keep confidential information
∎ Sound technical knowledge on a range of communication tools, documentation of project outputs
∎ Knowledge on essential computer software/packages like MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
∎ Experience with communication for research-development projects is preferred.
∎ Intellectual curiosity and passion for telling science stories is preferred.
∎ Flare for innovative communications through digital technologies is preferred.

Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) positions with annual salary ranging between BDT 1,312,189 - BDT 1,392,102 per annum. WorldFish`s NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension/ provident fund contribution.
