• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Special Education, or a related subject.
• Certification in Auditory-Verbal Therapy (LSLS Cert. AVT) is preferred.

• At least 2 years

• Minimum 02 years of experience in working with hearing-impaired children in a therapeutic or educational setting.
• In-depth understanding of auditory-verbal therapy techniques and language development.
• Experience working with cochlear implant or hearing aid users is strongly desirable.
• Strong communication, counselling, and parent-coaching skills.
• Proficiency in maintaining therapy records and using digital documentation tools.
• Compassionate, patient-centred, and family-focused approach to therapy.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Society for Assistance to Hearing Impaired Children (SAHIC) is a voluntary non-government organization established in February 1987 and registered with the Department of Social Services, Directorate General of Social Welfare, and NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, with the aim and objectives of prevention, early detection, and rehabilitation of hearing impaired children, along with treatment of general people's ear, nose, and throat diseases.

About the role:

The Auditory Verbal Therapist (AVT) will play a vital role in providing early auditory-verbal intervention services to children with hearing impairments at SAHIC. This role involves delivering one-on-one therapy sessions focused on developing listening and spoken language skills in children with cochlear implants or hearing aids. The AVT collaborates closely with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, educators, and families to ensure effective rehabilitation and integration of hearing-impaired children into mainstream society.

Brief description of key responsibilities:

• Provide structured auditory-verbal therapy to children using hearing aids or cochlear implants, focusing on developing listening and spoken language skills.
• Conduct initial assessments and develop individualized therapy plans tailored to each child’s auditory and linguistic needs.
• Guide and empower parents/caregivers to actively participate in therapy sessions and continue the learning at home.
• Collaborate with audiologists and ENT specialists to monitor auditory access and amplification outcomes.
• Maintain detailed session documentation and progress reports for each child.
• Monitor developmental milestones in speech, language, and listening, and adjust therapy plans as needed.
• Conduct family counselling and training sessions to support the auditory-verbal approach at home and in the community.
• Organize workshops, awareness sessions, and community outreach events related to auditory-verbal rehabilitation.
• Support training initiatives for junior therapists or teachers involved in special education.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management in line with SAHIC’s mission and program activities.
