Responsibilities & Context:

Introduction: The Assistant Professor is responsible for the implementation of the College program as directed by the Principal of the Nursing College.

Line of Authority: Vice-Principal as well as Principal

Functions:

  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions

  • Delivering lectures and conducting practical demonstrations on specialized subjects in the classroom and conducting practical demonstration on comprehensive Nursing care at bed side patients.

  • Preparing syllabus of the college according to the students and needs of the national education system of Bangladesh to the approved or amended by the Bangladesh Nursing & Midwifery Council /Universities

  • Preparing the program for field teaching and clinical experience of students to be approved by the principal.

  • Keeping abreast of development in the medical science for pertinent medication of the curriculum of the college.

  • Farming rules and regulation for the college, student’s hostel.

  • Supervising the students` clinical/ field practice in the hospital/ home/community.

  • Accompanying and guiding the students in their academic and recreational field activities.

  • Assisting in maintaining discipline in the college and hostel.

  • Attending and participating in professional community activities to interpret the place of the nurse in the community.

  • Prepare course materials such as, homework, assignments, and handouts.

  • Supervise students` laboratory and clinical work.

  • Evaluate and grade students` class, lab & clinic work assignments and papers.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.

  • Plan & evaluate, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.

  • Moderate board examinations & Evaluate scripts

  • Develop & implement new methods of teaching.

  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.

  • Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.

  • Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment.
