We are looking for an Assistant Professor to join our dynamic team at the BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (BRAC JPGSPH) of BRAC University. This position is based at the Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases (CNCDN), one of the five research centres of excellence at BRAC JPGSPH. The aim of the CNCDN is to reduce mortality and morbidity related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and malnutrition in Bangladesh and Global South through prevention, treatment and control. CNCDN conducts research, provides training, develops guidelines and quality standards and performs evidence-based advocacy around NCDs and malnutrition. Research of CNCDN is aimed at identifying and testing evidence-based interventions in clinical and population settings, implementing health system research to optimise delivery of interventions, and conducting economic evaluation of novel and evidence-based interventions.
We are seeking a person interested in and passionate about teaching and research and has sufficient knowledge and skill of non-communicable diseases, epidemiological and implementation research.

Key responsibilities:
Develop proposals for research projects which increase the knowledge, understanding, and discovery of new explanations, insights, concepts, and processes relevant to NCDs and nutrition as Principal Investigator’ or ‘Co- Investigator’
Lead quantitative and qualitative research activities aimed at prevention and control of NCDs and malnutrition as Principal Investigator’ or ‘Co-Principal Investigator’
Conduct data analysis, prepare reports and present research findings to academic, research and programme audience
Develop course materials, teach and evaluate students enrolled to the MPH, EMPH and other programmes
Identify sources of funding for research and lead the process of application
Oversee the use of research project budgets and other resources
Lead and develop internal and external networks, and collaborative groups, always representing BRAC JPGSPH in a professional manner, including links with professional bodies, and research donors.
Mentor junior researchers on quantitative and qualitative research methods
Supervise MPH students for the thesis project
Develop and offer short courses in collaboration with the centre for professional skill development
Contract Duration: The position is available immediately and the initial contract will be for two years. The contract will be renewed based on performance and availability of funds.
