Project Brief:
BRAC-Otithi aims to transform tourism in Bangladesh by connecting urban generations with rural communities, uncovering hidden cultural and natural treasures. Otithi focuses on celebrating and preserving local traditions while empowering communities through sustainable tourism. By showcasing the beauty of unexplored areas, BRAC-Otithi seeks to create unforgettable journeys for both local and foreign travelers.
Job Purpose:
The Area Ambassador will support the Area Manager in managing the day-to-day field operations of Otithi at the assigned location. The role will assist with trip coordination, community and guide management, guest support, logistics, documentation, and other field-level activities to ensure smooth delivery of Otithi experiences.
Job Description:
Plan and execute Otithi trips alongside the Area Manager by coordinating each stage from preparation to completion.
Coordinate transportation, accommodation, food, activities, guides, and community members by liaising directly with each provider, and accompany trips when required to resolve field-level issues with the Area Manager.
Nurture respectful, long-term relationships with Otithi`s partner communities through regular engagement and welfare initiatives, and relay their needs, expectations, and concerns.
Conduct field visits to identify new communities, destinations, and experiences by studying their culture, livelihoods, stories, local resources, and tourism potential.
Develop and pilot new community-based experiences, and improve existing ones by acting on guest and community feedback.
Communicate with guests before and during trips, and coordinate with B2C and B2B clients as assigned, to ensure their comfort, safety, and satisfaction.
Support trip finances by tracking expenses, collecting bills, and reconciling accounts, while maintaining accurate trip, guest, and community records.
Report regularly to the Area Manager on trips, community engagement, scoping activities, and field challenges through updates and written trip and community visit reports.
Collaborate with the central Otithi team on assigned activities by taking ownership of each responsibility and gradually managing it independently.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
