Job Context:
∎ GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for its project "Sustainability in the Textile and Leather Sector, STILE" for the position "Advisor- Coordination of Workers Capacity Development".
∎ Band: 4T
∎ Contract Duration: till 30 June 2023
∎ Project Background:
∎ STILE is a German-Bangladesh bilateral Development Cooperation project with the objective that state and private sector actors have improved fulfilling their mandates and responsibilities to ensure compliance with social and environmental standards in the textile and leather industry in Bangladesh. The project has 4 outputs. Output 4 aims at workers making more use of opportunities for co-determination through trainings on their rights and duties at their workplace as well as information campaigns on social and environmental issues and COVID-19. It is assumed that awareness-raising campaigns will enable workers to increasingly demand compliance with social and environmental standards at their workplace and living environment.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for
∎ managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ Tasks (Specific for job role)
∎ The position holder will be
∎ supporting the implementation of Output 4 of the project "Sustainability in the Textile and Leather Sector" with regards to development of communication and outreach strategies for workers to increase compliance with social and environmental standards in the textile and leather industry
∎ coordinating capacity development and advisory measures for developing communication and awareness raising strategies for workers and civil society organisations, in cooperation with international consulting companies
∎ supporting the implementation of awareness raising campaigns and trainings in cooperation with the Women Cafés partner NGOs
∎ supporting activities related to social dialogue between workers and management in the garment and leather sectors
∎ supporting COVID-19 prevention activities among workers and factories in the garment and leather sectors
∎ liaising with broad range of partners and stakeholders, especially civil society organisations including Women Cafés
∎ monitoring the progress of implementation of the interventions in Output 4
∎ supporting the project manager in coordination and implementation of the projects in line with GIZ rules and regulations
∎ representing GIZ towards stakeholders and ensure that GIZ values and principles are upheld
∎ providing professional and technical advice to the project and partners and establishing contacts as well as cooperating with important stakeholders
∎ ensuring safeguarding the quality of process of office/ project
∎ ensuring adequate knowledge management within the project and communicating progress and results to a broad target group
∎ supporting the project manager with reporting and knowledge management
∎ Other Tasks
∎ The position holder will be
∎ supporting the programme coordination and component leader with reporting and knowledge management
∎ advising on all issues on Gender Mainstreaming to the supervisor
∎ implementing policies regarding Gender Mainstreaming set by the supervisor
Additional Requirements:
∎ Professional experience:
∎ 5 years in relevant occupational experience
∎ Professional experience in development organization, textile and garment sector, civil society organization (specially Women Cafes) will be preferred
∎ Previous experience in working with GIZ is an asset
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
∎ Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Fluency in English is essential
∎ Knowledge of German Language is an asset
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment
∎ Fluent written and oral knowledge of English and Bangla
∎ Good organizational skills and management expertise
∎ Strong quantitative skills
∎ Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies, especially Microsoft Excel
∎ Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed - corresponding measures are agreed with management
∎ Diplomatic approach in communication with stakeholders
