Dhaka Heralds is looking for a skilled Video Editor to work across our news, documentary and digital video productions.

We are looking for an editor who understands that editing is not simply assembling footage. You should have a strong news sense, editorial judgment and understanding of visual storytelling, with the technical ability to turn raw footage, interviews, archival material and data into compelling stories.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit news reports, documentaries, interviews, explainers and short-form digital videos from raw footage to final delivery.

• Work closely with reporters, producers and visual teams to understand the editorial purpose, context and narrative of each story.

• Build strong narratives through pacing, sequencing, sound design, B-roll, archival footage and interviews.

• Create motion graphics, titles, transitions, infographics and animated visual elements.

• Create and integrate maps, location graphics and animated geographic visualisations where required.

• Develop platform-specific versions for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms.

• Ensure visual accuracy, editorial consistency and appropriate treatment of sensitive or newsworthy material.

• Manage multiple projects and meet tight newsroom and production deadlines.

• Maintain organised project files, media assets and editing workflows.

Essential Skills & Requirements

• Strong editorial understanding of news, current affairs and documentary storytelling.

• Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is mandatory.

• Strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects is mandatory.

• DaVinci Resolve is mandatory, particularly for professional color correction and grading.

• Understanding of motion graphics and animation.

• Strong understanding of sound design, dialogue editing, music, ambience and mixing.

• Good understanding of color correction and professional visual finishing.

• Ability to work with different codecs, resolutions, frame rates and delivery formats.

• Strong attention to detail, visual judgment and storytelling ability.

• Ability to work under pressure and deliver within tight editorial deadlines.

• A strong showreel/portfolio is mandatory.
