Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018 and 2019 DRC implemented aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ Overall purpose of the role:
∎ The Shelter and Infrastructure Officer (GIS) is to provide with necessary technical support to the Infrastructure team in collecting, analyzing and storing spatial data and thus developing real-time GIS enabled digital maps for the infrastructure works in the selected camps. In addition, the selected candidate will also take full responsibility for creating a master site improvement plan in cooperation with other internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the supervision of line manager, the Shelter and Infrastructure Officer (GIS) will be accountable to perform the following duties:
∎ General tasks:
∎ To design and develop standardized maps and infographics to inform DRC, donors and stakeholders on the achievements and gaps in terms of infrastructure interventions in the camps;
∎ To produce customized GIS maps based on the demand form the key stakeholders including line manager and donors.
∎ Produce comparative mapping of land use change pattern using Remote Sensing and GIS tools to find out the change pattern with anticipated changes.
∎ To design and conduct necessary trainings for the team members to build the in-house skill on using GIS software and tools.
∎ To identify where quality and quantity of infrastructure service can be improved and advise project manager accordingly.
∎ Organize and conduct necessary GIS training for the staff in coordination with UNHCR/IOM/UNDP and coordinate mapping exercises in the operating camps.
∎ Ensuring the collection, production and maintenance of metadata set to manage all existing database including production and update of Landslide/ flashflood vulnerability map (2D and 3D).
∎ Report on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as required by the line manager;
∎ Any other duties as agreed with the Infrastructure Manager and or relevant line manager.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years proven professional and hands-on experience in developing mapping and infographic products using GIS, Remote sensing tools, equipment and software, preferably in non-profit sector;
∎ Knowledge in using ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS imagine or other relevant software and produce mapping and infographic products for stakeholders including non-technical audience.
∎ Use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word etc.) and outlook.
∎ The ability to take the initiative and work independently as well work as a team player - supporting other departments as and when needed.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
∎ Flexibility and capacity of adaptation to a changing working environment;
∎ Willingness to live and work in a challenging environment with limited resources;
∎ Commitment to DRC's overall values, core competences and policies and experience of promoting gender equity and ensuring vulnerable people's needs are met.
