• At least 8 years’ merchandising experience in a reputed buying office or factory in Sweaters working with Retail brands like NEXT.

• Must have extensive experience of product development and sourcing of materials.

• Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

• Profound knowledge of Sweater garment engineering and production processes is required.

• Have sound knowledge of yarns and an excellent network of yarn, print, embroidery & trims suppliers.

• Should be able to source and develop new products independently.

• Should have excellent understanding of Sweater technical process.

• Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.

• Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude.

• Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures.

• Good understanding of core business aspects.

• Should have the ability to effectively communicate for raw materials, booking and delivery.

• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and build relationships and work as a team

• Should be well-groomed, smart and energetic

• Strong presentation and delivery skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, aiming for perfection

• Excellent written and verbal communication both in Bangla and English

• Proficiency is a MUST in MS Office package (Especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)

Job Context

The Senior Specialist Sourcing & Development is responsible for sourcing and managing new product developments from initial concept through sampling, working closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution, quality, cost efficiency, and successful development in line with customer requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead product development from concept through sampling/SMS, translating buyer requirements, tech packs and design concepts into production-feasible products.

• Develop seasonal collections and buyer-specific ranges in collaboration with internal and external designers.

• Research and introduce new yarns, stitches, trims, prints, embroideries and washing techniques for product development.

• Conduct product-development risk analysis and identify potential technical or execution challenges.

• Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for yarns, trims and other development materials.

• Source yarns and trims that closely match actual production requirements.

• Source and develop new factories and suppliers to meet product development requirements and capacity needs.

• Research latest yarn and material trends and maintain adequate availability of key development yarns.

• Prepare sample plans and Time & Action (T&A) plans based on development priorities and availability.

• Monitor sampling progress, sample execution and delivery status to ensure deadlines are met.

• Review and analyze customer tech packs, yarn specifications, trims, knitting parameters and washing requirements.

• Maintain technical data required by Design and Merchandising during the development and costing stages.

• Guide knitting technicians, sampling units and factories regarding product-development requirements.

• Develop and maintain yarn, trim, print, embroidery, wash and stitch libraries with relevant technical and price information.

• Prepare product and trend presentations for customer visits based on customer background, trends, quality requirements and price points.

• Ensure complete technical and product information is handed over to Merchandising once an order is confirmed.

• Maintain accurate development records and ensure all relevant product information is readily available for execution.
