About the Project
We are building federated dataspaces inspired by initiatives such as Catena-X, Eclipse Tractus-X, and Gaia-X. Dataspaces will enable secure, standards-compliant, and sovereign data exchange across industrial and regulated ecosystems.
Our infrastructure will be designed to be provider-agnostic, supporting deployment across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and DigitalOcean. We aim to abstract the complexity of dataspace participation and deliver a seamless experience to data providers and consumers.
This is not limited to connector development. The scope includes the full architecture of the dataspace:
Identity and trust management (DID, DAPS, OAuth2)
Semantic metadata modelling and knowledge graphs
Policy-based access control and contract negotiation
Federated service discovery and data catalogues
Data governance, auditability, and lifecycle management
You will be part of a cross-functional team contributing to an ambitious and highly impactful infrastructure platform from the ground up.
Role Overview
As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will design and implement core user-facing components that enable secure, federated data exchange across domains. You will be work closely with backend engineers, architects, designers, and product owners to ensure usability, security, and compliance with emerging European dataspace standards.
You will help create dashboards, data catalogues, policy managers, and contract negotiation interfaces with a focus on clean UX, accessibility, and scalability. You will also contribute to frontend toolkits and pattern libraries, helping define reusable components for dataspace applications. Collaboration with DevOps and QA teams will be integral.
Responsibilities
Architect and implement complex frontend applications using TypeScript and React (or similar frameworks)
Translate backend APIs and standards (e.g., Eclipse Dataspace Components) into intuitive UIs and workflows
Integrate with OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and DID authentication providers
Build interactive data catalogues, policy editors, and contract negotiation interfaces
Ensure responsive, accessible design across devices and platforms
Collaborate with backend, DevOps, and design teams for seamless API and data integration
Participate in architecture design, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
Document UI components, interfaces, and workflows for internal and external teams
Required Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in frontend development using TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
Strong understanding of UI architecture for complex, distributed web applications
Hands-on experience with component libraries, RESTful/GraphQL API integration, and state management (Redux, MobX, or similar)
Experience working with authentication and authorization flows (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect)
Familiarity with best practices for accessibility (a11y), security, and performance
Competency in working with Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and containerised deployments
Ability to write clean, modular, well-tested, and maintainable code
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Catena-X, IDSA, Gaia-X, Eclipse Tractus-X, or similar data exchange frameworks
Experience with semantic web technologies (JSON-LD, RDF, SHACL)
Knowledge of web components and micro-frontend architectures
Background in infrastructure-as-code (Helm, Terraform, Pulumi) for frontend deployments
Contributions to open-source frontend or data infrastructure projects
