• Advanced Diagnostics: Diagnose complex maintenance problems and determine necessary repair methods.

• Complex Repairs: Perform intricate overhauls, tune-ups, and repairs on cars, heavy construction equipment, and specialty vehicles.

• Leadership & Mentoring: Supervise subordinate automotive mechanics, helpers, and technicians; inspect work in progress and upon completion.

• Technical Training: Instruct staff in unusual or difficult repairs.

• Administrative Duties: Monitor parts inventory, coordinate schedules, maintain repair records, and ensure safety compliance.

• Quality Control: Conduct final inspections, including state-mandated inspections.

• Extensive Experience: Typically requires several years of experience as an automotive mechanic, often with specialization.

• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic components, and both gasoline and diesel engines.

• Tool Proficiency: Proficient use of diagnostic scanners, multi-meters, lathes, and heavy machinery.

• Leadership Ability: Strong communication skills to train staff and manage shop workflow.

• Certifications: Often requires specialized certification (such as ASE Master Technician or state-specific inspection licenses).
