Education:

• Diploma in Nursing
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing

• Completed Diploma (minimum 3 years course) or BSc in Nursing from an accredited academic institution, and recognized & registered by the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council.

• Should have experience working in an NGO Health Project.
• At least 1 year of working experience in NICU/SCANU in a hospital.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the Core Values: Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, and Accountability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse cultural and national backgrounds.
• High degree of judgment and initiative; ability to work with a high degree of independence within assigned areas.

Responsible for:

• Provide specialized nursing care for sick and at-risk newborns.
• Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, respiration).
• Recognize and respond promptly to signs of distress or deterioration
• Support breastfeeding and safe feeding techniques (e.g., tube, cup, bottle feeds as required).
• Maintain accurate records of intake/output to monitor hydration and nutrition status.
• Respond promptly to emergencies like apnea, seizures, or respiratory distress.
• Assist in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill neonates.

Activities:

• Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment around neonates.
• Prepare and administer medications, IV fluids, and prescribed treatments safely.
• Monitor the infant’s response and document appropriately.
• Operate, check, and maintain SCANU equipment (incubators, warmers, phototherapy machines, ventilators, CPAP, monitors).
• Assist in insertion and management of IV lines, feeding tubes, and oxygen support.
• Educate and involve parents in the baby’s care, including kangaroo mother care and developmental support.
• Liaise with doctors, midwives, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation and contribute to rounds and case reviews.
