• Applicants must have a Master’s degree with Honours in Social Science discipline (in subjects like Environment, Economics, Development Studies, Geography and Environment, Climate Change, Governance and Public Policy, Sociology, Public Administration, Law, and Statistics or any other related  subject).

• Candidates with a third division or a GPA below 2 in SSC/HSC or a CGPA below 2.5 as applicable, are not considered to meet the necessary requirements.

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) is inviting applications from Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Research Associate (Environment & Climate Finance), to be recruited for a project titled, Promoting Integrity in Solid Waste Management and Climate Finance in Bangladesh. The Research Associate-ECF is expected to join in July 2024 and serve until June 2027, renewable subject to extension of the project and mutual agreement. The incumbent will be based in Dhaka, subject to field work.

Project objectives in brief: The project objective is to increase demand for greater transparency, accountability and integrity in climate finance for a sustainable environment with a special focus on waste management. To this end, project activities will include evidence-based research, policy advocacy, capacity building, campaigns, and awareness-raising.

Responsibilities:

Reportable to the Coordinator-ECF, the Research Associate-ECF will be responsible to:

• Conduct/assist/outsource qualitative and quantitative research on governance issues in sustainable environment management especially in waste management and climate finance considering global and national climate pledges and progress.

• Contribute to develop research concepts, methodologies, tools, techniques and processes of data collection and prepare terms of reference (ToR) for outsourcing research and assessments.

• Collect primary and secondary data for research using different tools and techniques as and when required Supervise and monitor field-level data collection, ensure authenticity and objectivity of the data as and when appropriate.

• Develop data analysis plan and analyse collected data.Provide training on data collection to field enumerators/short term staff appointed from time to time.

• Write research reports and/or contribute to research report writing in Bangla and English, prepare and make power-point presentations of research findings.

• Draft policy briefs/position papers based on research findings.Assist in developing and updating creative, innovative and effective designs for policy research.

• Provide necessary research/technical support in project activities including workshops, capacity building training, dialogues, and campaigns engaging relevant actors and decision-makers in coordination with TIB stakeholders, where appropriate.

• Assist the design, planning and management of research, programme and advocacy activities of the project.The position is Dhaka-based. However, the Research Associate-ECF must have no hesitation to undertake frequent research-related field visits as needed.

• Perform any other relevant task/s assigned by the organisation.
