Job Context:
∎ BRAC Institute for Governance and Development (BIGD) has initiated multiple projects that aim to address challenges and vulnerabilities in the area of behavioural communication and migration, adopting an ethnographic approach. BRAC`s "Hygiene and Behaviour Change Collation (HBCC)" is one of these projects. This project intends to limit the COVID19 transmission through behaviourally-informed initiatives. BIGD has already conducted a process evaluation employing a peer-researcher approach to understand Handwashing Stations` (HWS) relevance at the community level during this project`s pilot phase. Now, this project has scaled up. During this roll-out phase, BIGD intends to understand the service delivery process of HWS and its long-term sustainability along with the grassroots realities around low-and high-intensity behavioural nudges designed to increase the effectiveness of HWS by adopting an ethnographic approach. Another project of BIGD focuses on BRAC history searching, which also requires ethnographic knowledge to document and narrate the history.
∎ To work in these areas, we are looking for one Research Associates for a minimum commitment period of three months. The candidate will be primarily based in Dhaka, with travel outside Dhaka as needed. The successful candidate will work with leading academics and researchers, thus paving the way for a future career in academia, the private sector, or the public sector.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Scope of work:
∎ Conduct a review of existing and ongoing behavioural communication and migration interventions in different BRAC programmes;
∎ Conduct interviews around BRAC's handwashing stations;
∎ Write analytical pieces on the handwashing station usages and different behavioural nudges happening at the handwashing stations;
∎ Develop case studies on different BRAC programmes;
∎ Liaise and facilitate discussions with programme management and various research arms;
∎ Support writing research proposals; and
∎ Additional tasks related to qualitative exploration as and when they are assigned;

Additional Requirements:
∎ Excellent verbal and written English-language skills;
∎ Well versed in behavioural communication, migration, and history searching literature
∎ A strong ability to work on a team and under pressure with strict deadlines to manage relationships and multiple projects;
∎ Strong analytical and interpretation skills;
∎ Multicultural and gender sensitivity;
∎ Professionalism in communications and delivery; and
∎ Proficiency in Bengali/Bangla is a plus but not required.
