Job Responsibilities:
∎ Demonstrate a current understanding of curriculum across MYP, DP, WACE, and curriculum initiatives at AusIS;
∎ Guide students and teachers in their reading choices;
∎ Maintain and update the digital library system;
∎ Responsible for the overall management of the Library;
∎ Linkage for new resources and maintain current resources;
∎ Maintain full and working knowledge of library software;
∎ Ensure Current Awareness Service (CAS);
∎ Assist students in selecting and referencing materials for the task ahead;
∎ Making the library engaged in using media programmes;
∎ Providing a supporting role to the IB MYP and DP programme for personal learning and projects;
∎ Promote the use of the library for whole-school teaching and learning;
∎ Ensure books and resources are well organized and up to date;
∎ Planning and deploying library-based lessons;
∎ Have clear policies and procedures that are updated in the library;
∎ Establish behavioral standards in the library;
∎ Ensure the library is clean and tidy and is a safe learning environment;
∎ Have an insight into budgeting for the library;
∎ Attend staff meetings and work closely with the senior management team;
∎ Promote the library resources and reading by inviting authors, organizing book weeks;
∎ Use selection tools / reviewing journals to keep informed about current children's literature
∎ Provide informal one-on-one support to teachers regarding resources in a variety of formats and strategies for their use;
∎ Work with Coordinators, class teachers, and specialist teachers to support curriculum innovations at AusIS;
∎ Maintain a collection of current professional resources for teachers including
∎ online access to journals;
∎ Follow AusIS procedures for circulation and the processing of new resources;
∎ Work with the other AusIS Teacher-librarian to create a Collection;
∎ Use reviewing journals to keep up-to-date on new titles;
∎ Identify gaps in the collection for new purchases and replacement;
∎ Identify gaps in the collection and select resources accordingly;
∎ Prepare resource orders;
∎ Indexing using technology;
∎ Manage inventory system;
∎ Comfortable with handling audio-visual materials;
∎ Organize Book Week and Book Fair
∎ Conduct the library classes;
∎ Prepares lesson plan and daily plan according to the theme;
∎ Knows the learning capabilities of individual students;
∎ Provides individual and collaborative learning opportunities;
∎ Uses DOTT time efficiently for a planning meetings with parents and administrative tasks;
∎ Assess the children's reading level by doing the running record;
∎ Run the reading intervention program;
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 28 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Must have good computer skills;
∎ Having a good command of writing and speaking English;
∎ Having IB (International Baccalaureate) MYP/DP curriculum training and experience will be given high preference;
