Danish Refugee Council, one of the world`s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a Gender-based violence Officer to work at its office in Cox`s Bazar.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ POSITION PROFILE
∎ OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world's leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC are preparing to launch an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2019, DRC will be implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened up a main office in Cox's Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ The Gender-based violence Officer's primary function is to conduct quality implementation of the Gender-based violence thematic area in synergy with the larger protection and child protection components which constitute the overall DRC programme in Cox's Bazar. He/She will provide direct support to clients presenting to the community center at upazila level.
∎ MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION:
∎ Ensure daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Gender-based violence- related projects and interventions
∎ Engage with the community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps in Gender-based violence programming
∎ Maintain close contacts with local authorities in the Ukhiya upazila; collaborate with authorities as necessary to protect people affected by gender-based violence.
∎ Take a leading role in setting up community centers - liaising with the community
∎ Implement GBV prevention programming through community consultation, engagement with stakeholders, support of women's leadership, and facilitation of self-reflection for men and boys
∎ Contribute actively to setting up the mobile outreach component - identifying needs and designing a modality adapted to the culture and context
∎ Support Gender-based violence cases received at the center and identified in the community by overseeing and implementing the provision of case management services to respond to the needs of clients, provide them information and resources to access services and make appropriate referrals to other service providers if required.
∎ Incorporate a survivor/client-centered approach in all center activities
∎ Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality for all case-related information; protect the identities of clients in the design and implementation of all activities
∎ Assess the knowledge and utilization of health and other services available for survivors of GBV.
∎ Ensure updated filing and documentation of Gender-based violence cases in line with DRC tools.
∎ Conduct vulnerability and risk assessment visits to identify risks faced by women, men, boys and girls and people of gender and sexual minorities in their communities and mitigate these risks through referrals to other partners, provision of in-house services and advocacy
∎ CAPACITY BUILDING:
∎ Provide technical and programmatic leadership to the Gender-based violence Assistants and Volunteers in the field on a day to day basis
∎ Provide technical and programmatic leadership to community-based mechanisms such as women's networks in operational area as needed.
∎ Identify needs in regards to capacity building and liaise with Gender-based violence Team Leader and GBV Manager to address the needs
Additional Requirements:

∎ To be successful in this role we expect the following: (Required)
∎ Minimum of two years' experience working with vulnerable communities, basic needs and social service experience, and/or advocacy programs.
∎ Experience in protection interventions
∎ Experience of working with UN or Non-Governmental organizations or local governmental authorities.
∎ Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness
∎ Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
∎ Good organizational and management skills.
∎ Fluency in Bangla & Chittagonian and/or Rohingya
∎ English
