Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ POSITION PROFILE
∎ The GBV Assistant works in the Women`s Safe Space, her role is to support women and girls in the center and outreach activities through provision of activities including setting up information sessions, recreational sessions, and emotional support sessions. She will assist in the provision of group activities, skills building, information sessions and other recreational activities that promote support networks and cohesion with women and girls at the women and girls centers/safe spaces and other DRC GBV service entry points.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Direct Interventions in Centres and Outreach
∎ Work with women and girls in the WGSS and outreach to identify their needs, interests and priorities, and where.
∎ possible, adapt activities according to these to ensure activities offered are culturally appropriate.
∎ and meet the needs of women and girls. In some locations, Assistants may be requested to work with participants not conforming to binary gender, for which they will be provided with specific trainings.
∎ Execute prevention and response activities in the centre and outreach in compliance with the trainings, guidelines and technical discussions provided and led by DRC GBV Manager, Team Leaders and designated officers; and on field technical feedback provided by the GBV Manager and Team Leaders.
∎ Ensure smooth running of the DRC WGSS centres and additional service points in accord with the SSWG Operationalization Note. This includes preparing, planning, organizing and displaying activity plans of Manager validated activities with women and adolescent girls. It also requires taking responsibility for ensuring the service points are as safe spaces as possible.
∎ Know and understand, contribute to regularly updating and supporting persons of concern in the use of the GBV referral pathway.
∎ Share with all women and girls and participants not conforming to binary gender, both those participating in activities as well as any community members who spontaneously seek support, where relevant what options for their care are available, including what services can be provided and what services cannot.
∎ Adhere to GBV guiding principles.
∎ Overall GBV Programme Implementation
∎ In addition to the direct service provision responsibilities outlined above, Assistants are required to collaborate with other GBV team members to ensure the overall comprehensive service quality of the GBV programme. This includes systematically transmitting information about case management services within the DRC GBV programmes and other activities and opportunities for participants and working collaboratively with Officers specialized in specific prevention to ensure relevant execution of the specific prevention programmes.
∎ Assistants are expected to be proactive in identifying outreach and centre planning that best serves the intentions of programmes and work with their line managers to ensure the spread and depth of centre and outreach activities stays relevant and evolves with programme and Assistant experience. Needs for new technical challenges must be flagged to the Manager through line managers.
∎ Assistants are expected to ensure supplies/resources for women centers and other program activities as well as requests from DRC Support are requested in a timely manner and are efficiently utilized. Maintenance of stock inventories at the centres is expected.
∎ Monitoring and Reporting
∎ All Assistants are expected to meticulously fill formats required at the time of activity implementation and accurately update trackers at a frequency consultatively agreed on with the Team Leader and GBV Information Management Officer
∎ All Assistants will submit regular internal reports in the format and frequency assigned by the Team Leaders or GBV Manager. These are expected to directly contribute to ideas for new and relevant activities for participants and improve the quality of existing activities by serving as a source of observation for the Team Leaders and Manager.
∎ All Assistants are expected to submit timely and accurate reports in the priority order assigned by their line manager or the GBV Manager.
∎ All Assistants are expected to submit workplans to the Team Leader on a weekly basis.
∎ All Assistants are expected to treat the hard and soft copy data with which they are entrusted in accord with GBV guiding principles and GBVIMS Information Sharing Protocol.
∎ Internal and External Coordination
∎ Assistants will be expected to liaise with Finance, Supply Chain and volunteers for tasks ensuring programme running.
∎ Field level internal and external coordination with other actors serving the participants in GBV programmes as well as key stakeholders in the community e.g. imams and majhis in camps and Chairmen in the host communities is a core responsibility of all Assistants.
∎ All Assistants must also maintain bilateral relationships with actors relevant for service provision beyond GBV needs, both within and outside of DRC.
∎ Assistants are expected to use their regular access to women and girls and their needs to note gaps in DRC service mapping, proactively fill them and share this information with the team, display in centres and reach it back to the women and girls.
∎ For all internal and external coordination, Assistants must refer to their supervisors for concerns beyond their scope of responsibility.
∎ Participation in Capacity Building
∎ Participation in ongoing capacity building, technical discussions and supervision for specialized activities is mandatory for Assistants as well as application of learning and compliance of standards in execution.
∎ Contribution to capacity building (and reports) by sharing ideas for adaptation and enhance service delivery for participants to stimulate peer learning and ensure harmonization of activities implemented. This includes initiative for learning new technical skills.
∎ All Assistants are expected to provide ongoing capacity building to volunteers.
∎ All members of the GBV team are expected to model following the Code of Conduct, demonstrate clear and respectful understanding of team and organizational hierarchy and respect, support and extend capacity building, support to subordinates, volunteers and/or other team members with a different skill set from them. They are also encouraged to flag high stress levels in the team to supervisors and remind peers about existing staff care services. Compliance with security protocols and email communication on running operations is mandatory.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum one year working experience with vulnerable communities, basic needs and social service experience and/or advocacy programmes.
∎ Experience in GBV/protection/MHPSS interventions.
∎ Experience of working with UN or I/NGOs.
∎ Good communication skills.
∎ Fluency in Bangla, Chittagong, Rohingya.
