• Experienced in designing and constructing school WASH block and WASH facilities
• A civil engineering degree from a public university will be given priority.
• Ability to work in a team with good interpersonal skills.
• Candidate should have learning attitude, well behavior and proactive attitude
• Ability to prioritize activities to act and decide promptly.
• Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) including Auto Cad;
• Ability drive Motorcycle and should have valid driving license
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bengali.
• Pro-active and participatory decision-making and problem-solving.
• Ability to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 337 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh covering over 10 million poor and vulnerable people.

As partnership with Plan International Bangladesh, ESDO is implementing the “Enhancing adolescent well-being through the improvement of WASH facilities and knowledge on health, and nutrition for inclusive quality education system” in Secondary School in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari District. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Civil Engineer is responsible for the conception, design, development, and management of School WASH block construction and repairing WASH facilities. The main responsibilities are:
• Reporting to the Project Manager and responsible for WASH hardware activities at secondary school.
• Feasibility assessments, site selection, drawing, design, and estimation of WASH block and repairing WASH facilities in secondary school considering Menstrual & Hygiene Management (MHM) in coordination with project management Plan.
• Using design software to create project drawings and renderings.
• Forecasting design and construction timeline.
• Ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time.
• Oversee construction and maintenance of WASH facilities structures and infrastructure and to finish ensuring high standards of construction and safety are maintained.
• Leading and directing the construction team and supervising on-site progress.
• Considering environmental hazards during assessing potential risks, materials, and costs involved in a project.
• Providing technical advice to construction team and creative solutions for construction challenges.
• Implement infrastructural activities and supervise masons and contractors.
• Preparing material, equipment and labor cost estimates and confirming costs are within the budget.
• Managing repair and maintenance of infrastructure projects.
• Ensure quality control and implement climate-resilient technologies tailored to the context of hardware activities.
• Maintain coordination with Upazila level DPHE and Upazila Secondary Education Department regarding relevant technical issues.
• Ensure that all construction activities comply with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all team members and contractors.
• Must have prominent experience in preparing activity/event reports, monthly, quarterly & annual reports, and case stories/success stories and submit project manager promptly.
• Documenting project data and information at the Project Office following the data privacy protocol.
• Having an attitude to work under pressure.
• Must comply with the organization and donor’s safeguarding. Child protection and PSHEA policy for children and program participants. He/she must ensure a clear understanding of safeguarding policy to the project staff, key stakeholders and associates, plan risk assessment & mitigation before starting any children and program participant-engaged activities, and ensure reporting & responding to CP & safeguarding incident cases if happen.
• Consider gender equality in organizing every program or activity in the community
• And should have the mindset to perform any additional duties assigned by the organization
• Safeguarding knowledge and applying in all aspects of the programme as necessary and reporting mechanism, assessment and risk management and ensuring in the programme cycle.
• Identify project risk and mitigation plan
