Experience:
BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction/infrastructure projects, preferably with a minimum of 2 years in humanitarian or development projects in emergency contexts or NGO sector
• Proven experience in project site supervision, BOQ preparation, and use of engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.)
• Knowledge of climate-resilient and environmentally friendly construction practices.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in remote or disaster-prone areas and under pressure.
• Registration with a professional engineering body is preferred.
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
• Proficiency in English and Bangla (spoken and written).

ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.
ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the following position
Project Duration: 03 months (will be extended if project will be extend)
Job Responsibilities:
• Be Knowledgeable on construction procedure as per ACI/BNBC Code.
• Lead and oversees all civil engineering and infrastructure activities in the project area, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with donor and government standards
• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and technical specifications for construction works (shelters, WASH facilities, community infrastructure, etc.)
• Prepare work plans, procurement plans, and progress reports in coordination with the project team.
• Supervise construction works on-site, ensuring timely completion within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Monitor contractor performance, certify completed works, and ensure adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
• stakeholder coordination,
• Liaise with CiCs (Camp-in-Charge), RRRC, UN agencies, and other stakeholders for approvals and coordination.
• technical planning, design, and supervision of site development works,
• ensuring quality control and adherence to safety standards, and ensures the project meets its objectives on time and within budget.
• high-level decision-making and communication with IOM
• Be capable of tracing the defective works in details & get these reached on priority basis.
• Be uncompromising on any defect major or minor & get reached on time as per NCR (Noncompliance register). To check regular records of NCR by sites.
• Identifying the defective work /procedure during construction time as well as for finished product.
• Maintain & check the test & record format (QA format) for all types of construction works during construction/ finishing phase by sites
• Check safety & security cleaning aspect & quality improvement aspects of site in respect of supervising person, workers & working environment.
• Require to the defective works for exclusion from the bill of contractor.
• Finding to be recorded in written & proposal with deadline for compliance to be submitted to top management.
