∎ As a member of the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) Program Team, the Program Officer-Government Liaison and Project Management will join the Breakthrough ACTION project that supports the Government of Bangladesh`s COVID-19 response. This position is responsible for planning risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) interventions for frontline healthcare professionals (for example, those accessed through government health structure), private and public hospital professionals (for example, those accessed through professional medical bodies), and the general public that encourage the uptake of COVID-19 mitigation measures. The Program Officer will work directly with government agencies to support the development and approval of COVID-19 related communication. This position will be tasked with partnering with key associations such as journalists, medical associations, and influencers to reach specific audiences with tailored, relevant COVID-19 messages.
∎ The Program Officer-Government Liaison and Project Management will facilitate coordination with different government offices, especially those relating to health, and assist the Chief of Party with project management support. This position reports to the Chief of Party.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Liaise with key officials in different government offices and ministries
∎ Participate in relevant meetings and conferences organized by JHUCCP and/or government authorities.
∎ Support other colleagues to develop relationships with government officials
∎ Manage the approval process for COVID-19 related content and products with government offices
∎ Work with government offices to secure all required authorizations and permissions to facilitate smooth implementation of JHUCCP's activities
∎ Ensure active follow-up on outstanding tasks with various government offices, responding to queries from authorities in a timely manner
∎ Ensure all correspondence with the government offices is in line with JHUCCP's policies and records are retained in organized manner
∎ Assist Chief of Party in terms of project management, such as reporting, monitoring of activities, advising other colleagues
∎ Provide feedback on radio program scripts and other products that focus on COVID-19 (e.g., care during pregnancy and COVID-19; food and nutrition to strengthen the body against COVID-19)
∎ Support implementing partners with outreach activities and in developing communication materials (leaflets, poster board)
∎ Write weekly reports for the BA project activity
∎ Support the development of Facebook posts
∎ Update training materials based on WHO COVID-19 response for doctors, journalists and health care providers
∎ Assist in drafting the project's final report
∎ Other activities assigned by Chief of Party
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3-5 years working at a government health agency
∎ At least 3-5 years relevant work experience in two or more of the following areas: communication for development, mass media production, social media production, transmedia content development
∎ Strong knowledge of government system of Bangladesh, local administration, and other authorities, especially knowledge of different health offices and system
∎ Self-driven, motivated, and diplomatic
∎ Excellent spoken and writing skills in both English and Bengali
∎ Experience working in a production environment for radio or television is highly preferred
∎ Experience working with a development agency, NGO, or charity is preferred
∎ Must be committed to JHUCCP's mission, vision and values
∎ Competent in Microsoft Office; other software skills preferred
