Responsibilities & Context:
Collect blood samples from patients using proper venipuncture and capillary techniques.
Ensure correct patient identification before sample collection.
Label specimens accurately and maintain proper documentation.
Follow infection control and safety protocols during sample collection and handling.
Prepare samples for laboratory testing and deliver them to the appropriate department.
Assist laboratory technologists in conducting diagnostic tests when required.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sample collection area and laboratory equipment.
Ensure proper disposal of medical waste according to hospital guidelines.
Maintain records of collected samples and test requests.
Provide courteous and professional service to patients, ensuring their comfort during procedures.
Follow hospital policies, laboratory procedures, and quality control standards.
Report any unusual incidents, patient reactions, or sample issues to the supervisor.
