Responsibilities & Context:
Patient Care & Preparation
Verify patient identity and examination request
Explain the procedure and obtain consent
Position patients correctly for imaging
Ensure patient comfort and safety
Apply radiation protection measures (lead apron, shielding)
Screen female patients for pregnancy before exposure
📸 2. Performing Imaging Procedures
Perform X-ray examinations
Operate advanced imaging equipment such as:
CT scan
MRI
Ultrasound (if trained)
Fluoroscopy
Follow physician’s instructions for required views
Ensure proper image quality before sending to radiologist
⚙️ 3. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
Operate and adjust imaging machines
Perform routine quality control (QC) checks
Report faults or technical problems
Ensure radiation safety compliance
📝 4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain patient records
Enter data into PACS/RIS systems
Label and store images properly
Assist radiologists during interventional procedures
🛡️ 5. Radiation Protection & Safety
Follow ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)
Use personal dosimeter
Ensure protection of staff, patients, and attendants
Maintain compliance with regulatory authority guidelines
👨⚕️ 6. Professional & Ethical Duties
Maintain patient confidentiality
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Continue professional development (CPD)
Follow hospital policies and ethical standards
