Responsibilities & Context:

Key responsibilities of a mechanical technician include:

• Maintenance and Repairs: Performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions, and repairing mechanical equipment to maximize uptime.

• Installation and Commissioning: Assembling, installing, and testing new machinery and mechanical components.

• Technical Support: Reading, interpreting, and working from technical manuals, blueprints, and, in some cases, electrical schematics.

• Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to company safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and using appropriate PPE.

• Documentation: Maintaining detailed service records and reports of maintenance activities, often using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

• Tool Operation: Utilizing hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and sometimes, welding or cutting torches to fabricate or repair parts.
