∎ For the team of our Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme II, REEEP II we seek applications from suitable candidates for the position of "Junior Advisor- Sustainable Energy".

∎ Programme Background:
∎ Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency is one of the priority areas of German Development Cooperation in Bangladesh. The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP II) is a joint undertaking between the Bangladesh Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. REEEP II started in November 2018 and will continue till October 2021. The Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) is REEEP II`s government counterpart.

∎ REEEP II started in November 2018 and will continue till October 2021.

∎ The objectives of REEEP II are:
∎
∎ Support framework improvement and cooperation among SREDA and other Stakeholders to achieve national target on renewable energy and energy efficiency.
∎ Support implementation of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Master plan through awareness development along the stakeholders` value chain.
∎ Provide technical assistance to the Government to implement solar rooftop programme under Net Metering Guideline.
∎ REEEP II works with the government, private sector and civil society actors to strengthen sustainable energy development in Bangladesh. The programme works for specific organisational development needs for SREDA and relevant sector stakeholders and will promote cooperation among those actors to achieve the national target for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
∎
∎ The programme will support the formulation and implementation of a national awareness raising campaign for energy efficiency and conservation. The programme will strive to further contribute to the capacity development of selected sectors with high potential for energy savings, i.e. textile industries. It also aims to develop an education curriculum on energy efficiency and conservation for lasting impact.
∎
∎ In addition, the programme will support smooth implementation of the solar rooftop net metering programme by establishing a national service desk at SREDA and by extending need based capacity development support to public utilities, private sector and civil society actors.
∎ As outcome of the programme, the partner actors of the project from public and private sector as well as civil society should be able to make an increased and sustained contribution to the promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Bangladesh through collective efforts.
∎ Moreover, as part of sustaining impact, in collaboration with SREDA, REEEP II would further follow up the major technology interventions facilitated in its earlier phase.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for the below tasks:
∎
∎ support in managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ support supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ support supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Specific Job Responsibilities
∎ As "Junior Advisor -Sustainable Energy", the position-holder will actively support in implementing Renewable Energy component activities under the supervision of Programme Coordinator, REEEP II. In addition, the applicant will also support REEEP II Team in implementation of other programme components, including energy efficiency.
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
∎ Participate in planning, design and implementation of REEEP II interventions in consultation with Programme Coordinator, REEEP II;
∎ Provide technical advisory support for smooth implementation of national solar rooftop projects under net metering programme;
∎ Maintain liaison with Bangladesh Solar and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA) and support capacity development activities targeted towards BSREA by REEEP II;
∎ Support in conducting national energy efficiency and conservation campaign across industrial, commercial and household sectors;
∎ Undertake activities for market development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in close cooperation with REEEP II and other GIZ Energy Projects;
∎ Write high-quality review of reports prepared by external parties;
∎ Support in carrying out Capacity Development activities for key partners and stakeholders from Government, Private Sector and Civil Society;
∎ Review and analyse Studies and Policies related to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and prepare technical briefs for the programme as required;
∎ Work closely with REEEP II M&E Expert to design M&E framework and provide inputs for results management;
∎ Develop Terms of Reference (ToR) and manage contracts under supervision of Supervisor;
∎ Coordinate with REEEP II PR & Communication expert in developing communication materials related to Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency interventions;
∎ Support in organizing workshops, seminars, and other events related to the programme's field of activities and submit reports on the events;
∎ Represent GIZ in meetings and events, as instructed by Supervisor.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Professional Experience:
∎ Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience (but not more than 8 years);
∎ 1 year of relevant work expereince in a similar position is desirable;
∎ Experience of working in an International organization will be considered as an asset;
∎ A clear exposure to energy sector is prerequisite to the position;
∎ Experience in coordinating with Bangladesh Government Energy Agencies will be preferred;
∎ Further Knowledge / Skills:
∎ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
∎ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
∎ Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
∎ Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a multi-cultural environment
∎ Basic knowledge of development issues in the context of Bangladesh.
∎ Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
∎ Excellent writing skill is a must
∎ Fluency in written and spoken English and Bangla is a basic requirement
∎ Fluency in German (Speaking, Reading and Writing) will be an asset
