Job Context
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic IT Administrator to lead our university's IT department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing, designing, and maintaining the university's enterprise-level network infrastructure and web server environments. This senior role requires a proactive leader capable of managing IT operations, implementing advanced security protocols, and ensuring maximum uptime for all academic and administrative digital services.
Job Responsibilities
Enterprise Network Administration:
§ Design, deploy, and manage the university’s complex LAN/WAN infrastructure, enterprise Wi-Fi networks, and multi-WAN internet connectivity.
§ Configure and maintain high-end routers (e.g., MikroTik, Cisco), core manageable switches, hardware firewalls (e.g., Sophos, Fortinet), and campus-wide wireless controllers.
§ Develop and implement robust network security policies, VPNs, access controls, and disaster recovery plans.
§ Monitor bandwidth utilization, manage ISP Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and optimize network traffic for institutional needs.
Web Infrastructure & Server Management:
§ Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and scaling of the university's official websites, web portals, and learning management systems (LMS).
§ Administer Linux/Windows web servers, VPS, or dedicated hosting environments (e.g., cPanel/WHM, Apache/Nginx).
§ Implement advanced web security measures, SSL certificates, automated backup strategies, and CDN integrations to ensure high availability and prevent vulnerabilities.
§ Supervise CMS management and collaborate with external or internal developers for API integrations and database management (MySQL/MariaDB).
IT Leadership & Operations:
§ Lead and mentor junior IT officers and support staff, determining departmental priorities and managing issue-ticketing systems.
§ Develop and enforce IT policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data compliance guidelines.
§ Oversee technology procurement, vendor relationships, and hardware/software lifecycle management.
