Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Liberal Arts, or related field.
∎ Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year
∎ basis.
∎ Demonstrated experience in intercultural communication and working with
∎ complex local, state, and federal rules and regulations is required.
Job Context:
∎ Coordinates recruitment and admissions services for international students.
∎ Ensures high quality evaluation of foreign academic credentials
∎ learns and applies federal regulations pertaining to the reporting of
∎ international students.
∎ Develops contacts with high schools, colleges/universities, agents, foreign
∎ study abroad advisors and US Embassies; functions as a Designated School
∎ Official and Responsible Officer to issue visa documents
∎ handles admission-related immigration issues for current and prospective
∎ students.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Oversees the development and implementation of specific marketing and
∎ recruitment strategies for international students. Visits high schools,
∎ language schools, colleges and universities to market and recruit international
∎ students. Provides information about educational opportunities at the
∎ College.
∎ Initiates phone, print and electronic contact with applicants and prospective
∎ students and provides follow-up with inquiries.
∎ Coordinates international admissions services. Reviews and updates
∎ admissions forms and letters. Provides admissions counseling to prospective
∎ students (e.g. guides students who are not in F1 status who wish to be full
∎ time international students). Participates in planning and implementing
∎ international student orientation activities.
∎ Collects and reviews documents submitted for admissions (e.g. foreign and
∎ domestic educational transcripts, health insurance documents and foreign and
∎ domestic bank documents as well as verifications from US sponsors
∎ including employment verifications and Affidavits of Support).
∎ Coordinates dual admission process with partner institutions as well as other
∎ educational institutions throughout Europe and Asia
∎ Collects and analyzes complex data and information regarding international
∎ admissions for college departments as well as partner institutions, scholarship
∎ agencies, study abroad agencies and international organizations.
∎ Oversees the maintenance of the international admissions databases. Tracks
∎ statistics gathers data, and creates reports (i.e. IIE, Japanese Census,
∎ ANDEO, etc.).
∎ Monitors compliance with government regulations ensuring a high standard
∎ of cooperation with FERPA and Department of Homeland Security
∎ regulations with respect to admissions practices.
∎ Collaborates with staff and outside agencies in resolving complex
∎ prospective student issues relating to admission and all pre-arrival issues (e.g.
∎ VISA complications, payment of SEVIS fees, etc.).
∎ Establishes cooperative and collaborative relationships with Study Abroad
∎ Agencies, Education USA advisors and US Embassy officials as well as
∎ business and industry representatives in the United States. Collaborates with
∎ US Immigration attorneys in the best interest of their clients seeking
∎ education.
∎ Oversees the work of student and casual employees.
∎ Performs other related duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ Considerable knowledge of immigration rules and regulations.
∎ Considerable knowledge of college admissions policies and procedures
∎ Skills in:
∎ Skill in reviewing/evaluating foreign transcripts.
∎ Skill in delivering presentations.
∎ Strong intercultural communication skills.
∎ Skill in operating a computer and supporting software.
∎ Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and diplomacy.
∎ Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
∎ Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
∎ Ability to learn and apply applicable federal regulations
