Job Context:
∎ The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
∎ CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD`s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
∎ The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
∎ Since November 2017, CDD is implementing disability-inclusive humanitarian response for the Rohingyas and Host Communities in Ukhia and Teknaf, Cox`s Bazar. The two major components of the program are to provide rehabilitation services (e.g., therapeutic sessions, assistive devices, and home modifications) for people with disabilities in the camps and host communities and strengthening the capacities of the personnel of mainstream humanitarian organizations on disability-inclusive programs and services.
∎ CDD will implement a new project (Sep 2021-Dec 2022) supported by the GIZ and BMZ to strengthen the capacities of the people with disabilities (through mobilization, awareness raising & rehabilitation services) local state and non-state actors on disability-inclusive development services (including Disability inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR), and Disability inclusive Local Governance) in four Unions of Teknaf and Ramu Subdistricts.
∎ CDD is now accepting applications for Inclusion & local capacity mobilizer of its project titled "Strengthened Capacities of local state and non-state actors on disability-inclusive services in Coxs Bazar."
Job Responsibilities:
∎ To form and oversee Self-Help Groups (SHG) in consultation with persons with disabilities and assist them to develop advocacy-plan
∎ To take initiatives to inform SHG members about different types of information about Disability issue and to help make good relations with the local elites and institutes in order to strengthen the SHGs and the capacities of its members
∎ To provide technical support to the local staff members regarding Disability, and the rights of persons with disabilities, different types of opportunities, accessibility, laws and policies.
∎ Aware different SHG and person with disabilities about Disability and the rights of persons with disabilities, their different types of opportunities, safety-net, and accessibility,
∎ To make regular visits to schools with the aim to provide ideas about Disability and accessibility to the parents of children with disabilities, and specifically, the special needs of children with disabilities
∎ To organize different training, yard meetings, and workshops locally
∎ To visit the houses of persons with disabilities and collect information and to store the information based on their demands
∎ Build relationship and networking with Union Councils, Sub-district offices.
∎ Sensitize and build awareness on disability inclusive local governance.
∎ Promote disability inclusion in Union Parishad.
∎ Work closely with elected local representatives.
∎ Connect SHGs and persons with disabilities with Union Councils, Sub-district offices, etc.
∎ Support with disability inclusion assessment at Union Councils, work with Union Councils to develop disability inclusion plan.
∎ Work closely with Union Councils to include persons with disabilities in Ward Meetings, Open Budget Meetings and to include disability agenda in Standing Committee meetings.
∎ Organize local workshops, meetings, orientations at community.Have regular communication with other field-workers of the project,
∎ To prepare case studies on best practices/good learnings,
∎ To assist preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, and
∎ Aside from all these, must be willing to work and take on other responsibilities assigned by CDD management and the project.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Ability to meet strict deadlines, handle situations of multi-tasking and to work in a multi-cultural and diverse workforce.
∎ Must adhere to organizational rules and sign the Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct and Organizational Code of Conduct
∎ Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner with project stakeholders
∎ Ability to work independently and in a team.
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of cultural sensitivity is highly desirable.
∎ Team Working, planning and organizing
∎ Willingness to undertake extensive field trip.
∎ Educational qualification will be flexible for highly experienced candidates .

Salary: Tk. 29500 - 30000 (Monthly)
