Job Purpose

To supervise and coordinate the overall operations of the Operation Theatre, ensuring safe, efficient, and hygienic surgical services, particularly for orthopedic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the OT and ensure smooth workflow.

• Coordinate with orthopedic surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, technicians, and other OT staff.

• Prepare and maintain the OT schedule according to planned surgeries.

• Ensure availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, implants, and consumables.

• Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention, sterilization, and OT safety protocols.

• Check OT readiness before every surgical procedure.

• Monitor proper preparation of patients before surgery and safe transfer after surgery.

• Maintain records of surgeries, instruments, implants, consumables, and OT activities.

• Coordinate instrument sterilization and ensure proper handling of sterile supplies.

• Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely procurement of OT supplies.

• Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of OT rooms.

• Supervise OT staff, assign duties, and monitor attendance and performance.

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and safety standards.

• Handle emergency OT requirements and coordinate with relevant departments.

• Report equipment problems, incidents, shortages, and other operational issues to management.

• Participate in audits, quality improvement programs, and infection-control activities.

• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure professional conduct among staff.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• BSc or OT Technology, or relevant healthcare discipline.

• Relevant experience in an operation theatre, preferably in an orthopedic hospital.

• Good knowledge of surgical procedures, sterilization, infection control, and OT protocols.

• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and during emergency situations.
