• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field; MBA or equivalent postgraduate12–18+ years in banking/NBFC, with substantial experience in unsecured lending in SME business.

• A demonstrated track record of setting up new business units, branches or lending verticals from the ground up.

• P&L ownership, having managed a sustainable lending portfolio through a full credit cycle, including unsecured/higher-risk asset classes.

• Grounding in collections strategy and lending regulatory requirements.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build a business function from the ground up and scale it sustainably.

• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to balance revenue growth, cost efficiency, and risk management.

• Familiarity with modern technology stacks, automated underwriting engines, and data-driven decision-making tools.

• Strong credit and risk judgment, particularly in unsecured lending products.

• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing, distributed teams across multiple locations.

• A data-driven approach, with the ability to steer business performance through portfolio analytics, MIS, and actionable insights.

Reporting to : Cheif Business Officer

We are looking for an entrepreneurial banking leader to build and lead a dedicated SME – Small Business Unit, comprising focused, semi-autonomous profit centers designed to originate, underwrite, disburse, and manage a portfolio of unsecured term-loan financing for small enterprises.

This is a founding leadership mandate with end-to-end ownership—from translating strategy into a scalable operating model and establishing the business network, to building the team from the ground up, embedding robust credit and risk discipline, and driving sustainable, high-quality portfolio growth.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Build the business unit — design the organization structure, staffing model, and city/cluster rollout plan as a focused profit center for unsecured SME term-loan financing.

• Define the operating model — target segments, ticket sizes, tenure, pricing, and channel strategy (direct sales, branch referrals, digital/partner-led sourcing).

• Own the business case — build the budget and multi-year growth plan for each unit, and lead phased rollout to operational readiness.

• Co-develop the product program — eligibility, credit scorecards, pricing, and delegated credit authority, in partnership with Risk and Product.

• Own growth targets — drive disbursement and outstanding portfolio targets, and build a high-performing sales and relationship management force.

• Own portfolio quality — manage PAR, NPL, roll-rates, and net credit losses within board-approved risk appetite, and build a collections and early-warning capability suited to unsecured lending.

• Lead the team — recruit, develop, and lead SME/small business unit leadership, relationship managers, and collections staff across multiple locations.

• Represent the function — present in management and board forums, and ensure full regulatory, KYC/AML, and compliance adherence.
