Skills Required:

Additional Requirements:
  • Strong expertise in knit garment manufacturing (cut-to-sew).

  • Deep knowledge of AQL, inline & final inspection systems.

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and quality improvement tools.

  • Proven capability in data-driven quality management.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • 15+ years in garment quality management (knit composite preferred).

  • Minimum 5+ years in senior leadership role (Head / GM Quality)·

  • Experience working with international Top Brands.

  • Proven track record in reducing defects and improving RFT.



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

To lead and transform end-to-end quality assurance across the garments division, driving a Right-First-Time (RFT) culture, ensuring compliance with global buyer standards, and embedding data-driven, prevention-focused quality systems across all production stages (cut-to-sew).

The role is accountable for product integrity, process capability, and continuous quality improvement, while minimizing cost of poor quality (COPQ), rework, and customer claims.

Job Description:

1. Quality Strategy & Transformation

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with business growth and international buyer expectations

  • Drive a Right-First-Time (RFT) and zero-defect mindset across all production units

  • Lead quality transformation initiatives focusing on prevention over inspection

  • Establish and monitor Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction roadmap

2. End-to-End Quality System Ownership

  • Own and standardize quality systems across:

  • Fabric inspection & validation

  • Cutting quality control

  • Inline sewing audits

  • Finishing & packing QA

  • Final AQL inspection & shipment release

  • Ensure robust implementation of:

  • IQC / Inline / OQC frameworks

  • Buyer-specific quality protocols

  • Internal SOPs and global benchmarks

3. Pre-Production Risk Management

  • Lead pre-production quality planning including:

  • PP meetings (PPM)

  • Risk identification (construction, fabric, print, trims)

  • Pilot run validation

  • Approve:

o   Size sets, PP samples, Bulk production readiness

o   Establish control plans to mitigate bulk production risks

4. Data-Driven Quality Management

  • Implement and manage real-time quality dashboards across all lines

  • Analyze:

o   DHU trends

o   Defect Pareto (Top 3 defects per line/style)

o   Line-wise and style-wise performance

o   Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions using structured methodologies

5. Supplier & Raw Material Quality Assurance

  • Establish and manage supplier quality programs for: Fabric mills, Accessories vendors, Print & embroidery units

  • Define:

o   Incoming quality standards

o   Vendor audit frameworks

o   Continuous improvement plans

6. Production Quality Control & Governance

Ensure strict control over:

o   Inline defect containment, Process discipline, Quality gate adherence

o   Own final inspection governance, including shipment release decisions

o   Minimize: Rework, Alteration, Rejections

7. Cross-Functional Leadership

Lead alignment with:

o   Production & IE for process optimization

o   Textile for fabric quality consistency

o   Merchandising for buyer requirement clarity

o   Sampling for development-to-bulk transition

o   Drive factory-wide accountability for quality, not limited to QA teams

8. Buyer & External Stakeholder Management

  • Represent the organization in: Buyer quality reviews, technical discussions, External audits

  • Lead handling of: Buyer inspections, Quality escalations, Claims and corrective action plans

9. Digitalization & Systems Integration

Drive implementation of:

o   Digital quality tracking systems

o   Traceability across production stages

10. Compliance & Sustainability

Maintain audit readiness for:

o   Buyers, Certification bodies

11. Team Leadership & Capability Building

Lead and develop: QA Managers, Auditors, Inspectors

Establish:

o   KPI-driven performance culture

o   Training programs on quality systems and standards

o   Build a quality-first culture across production teams

12. RM Quality Management

  • Implement IQC for all raw materials (fabric, trims, accessories, embellishment).

  • Approve/reject materials as per buyer and internal standards.

  • Coordinate with Textile to ensure fabric quality (GSM, shrinkage, shade, defects).

  • Maintain inspection records.
