Experience

● Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in journalism, editorial management, or

media/broadcast content leadership.

● Demonstrated experience in a senior editorial role (Senior Editor, Deputy Editor, or

Chief Editor) with direct oversight of a newsroom or editorial team.

● Proven track record of sourcing, verifying, and authenticating breaking news under

tight deadlines.

● Prior experience handling public relations, media liaison, or spokesperson duties.

● Demonstrated experience managing reputational crises or editorial damage control

situations.

Skills & Competencies

● Exceptional news judgment and editorial instinct, with a strong grasp of what

constitutes credible, publishable content.

Expert-level command of AP/Reuters style guides (or equivalent house style),

grammar, and editorial standards.

● Strong understanding of media ethics, defamation law, and press regulations.

● Proficiency with fact-checking and verification tools (e.g., reverse image search,

geolocation verification, source cross-referencing).

● Strong team leadership, delegation, and people-management skills.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the

organization publicly.

● Crisis-communication mindset — calm, decisive, and solutions-oriented under pressure.

● Familiarity with CMS platforms, digital publishing tools, and analytics dashboards.

● Working knowledge of SEO principles and multi-platform content distribution (web,

social, broadcast).



Responsibilities & Context:

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Editor with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in

journalism, editorial leadership, and media/broadcast operations to head our editorial desk.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for the integrity, credibility, and strategic direction

of all news content produced and distributed by the agency — across digital, print, and

broadcast channels.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on newsroom leader with sharp editorial judgment, strong news

sense, a deep understanding of media law and ethics, and proven crisis/reputation

management capabilities

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Leadership & Content Curation

● Oversee the full editorial workflow — story assignment, sourcing, fact-checking,

authentication, and final sign-off — across all desks (national, business, entertainment,

etc.).

● Curate and prioritize news content based on newsworthiness, audience relevance, and

editorial guidelines.

● Establish and enforce a rigorous source verification and authentication protocol to

safeguard against misinformation, fake news, and unverified claims.

● Review and approve headlines, leads, copy, and visuals prior to publication/broadcast.

Team Leadership & Newsroom Management

● Lead, mentor, and manage a multi-disciplinary team

● Conduct editorial meetings, assign beats, and manage daily/weekly editorial calendars.

● Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and deadline discipline within the newsroom.

Identify skill gaps and drive training on ethics, fact-checking tools, and digital-first

reporting.

Public Relations & Stakeholder Management

● Act as a key liaison between the newsroom and external stakeholders — clients, PR

agencies, government bodies, and industry contacts.

● Manage relationships with press contacts, official spokespersons, and media houses to

ensure credible sourcing and access.

● Vet press releases, sponsored content, and PR pitches for editorial fit and

conflict-of-interest concerns.

Strategic & Compliance Oversight

● Stay current with media law, press regulations, libel/defamation risk, and industry

codes of conduct (e.g., press council guidelines, broadcast standards).

● Monitor industry trends, competitor coverage, and audience analytics to inform editorial

strategy.

● Collaborate with the marketing/digital team on SEO-conscious, platform-optimized

content strategies without compromising editorial standards.

● Ensure compliance with copyright, attribution, and intellectual property standards in all

published material.
